Wisconsin man busted with 7th OWI after stealing friend’s truck
Perhaps the seventh time is the charm for getting one Wisconsin man to stop driving while intoxicated. How did this man even have something to drive after being busted six times? He stole a pickup truck from his friend.
Wisconsin man gets seventh DWI in stolen truck
Police officers with the Caledonia Police Department in Wisconsin responded to reports of a stolen pickup truck around 11:50 PM. The vehicle was stolen from the 4500 block of Stonebridge Drive.
The owner shared that his pickup was taken between 9:30 and 10 PM by a known acquaintance and wanted to pursue charges. This makes it sound like he doesn’t want to be friends with the drunken thief anymore.
Anyways, according to Yahoo, police officers spotted the vehicle heading north on Douglass Avenue. They initiated a traffic stop, and the driver complied. Things would have been much worse if he had decided to run.
Then the man showed clear signs of intoxication and refused standardized field sobriety tests. He was charged with taking and driving a vehicle without the owner’s consent, OWI seventh offense, and operating after revocation.
The man was drunk, but it’s unclear what his blood alcohol level is. However, I wonder if he had a license. But the other incidents may have occurred in other states.
In Wisconsin, a fourth offense in the state is considered to be a felony and results in a lifetime revocation of driving privileges. Plus, you could get haul time, fines, and other penalties.
How was the man even out of jail, and why did his friend trust him around his truck? How is the drunk driver’s lawyer doing? I bet the lawyer is doing well because he gets repeat business.
