RepairPal uses a simple five-star rating system, and J.D.Power uses a 100-point scale. Every single issue you can think of, from peeling paint, engine failure, and upholstery problems, is included. 

According to J.D. Power, scores between 70 and 80 are average, scores between 81 and 90 are above average, and rankings between 91 and 100 are best. 

Then, a 2.5 rating from RepairPal is below average, and a 3.0 is considered to be above average. 

1. 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid 

The Toyota Land Cruiser flaunts a reputation one being one of the longest-lasting Toyota SUVs. However, it only managed to get an average reliability rating. 

Anyways, it earned a score of 2.5 out of 5 from RepairPal. It’s ranks in 14th place out of 14 full-size SUVs. 

Critics view this rugged ride as a brand new SUV, which is hard to confidently assess until it’s fully put to the test. Also, it shared a hybrid powertrain with the Lexus GX, which boosts its reputation.

But on a concerning note, owners have reported catastrophic engine failure and problems with the regulatory bodies. These problems haven’t received recalls yet.

2. 2025 Toyota Sequoia Hybrid 

In another surprising twist, the 2025 Toyota Sequoia Hybrid only earned an average reliability score from J.D.Power. It earned a 77 out of 100, but that’s not exactly a reason to panic. 

Many of its complaints are related to paint chipping, brake problems, and issues with the wheels. The powertrain has very few complaints. 

Then, the current generation of the Sequoia launched, and it arrived with a few kinks and problems to iron out. But things have been improving over the past few years as Toyota irons out the issues. Plus, it flexes with its robust, body-on-frame build.

3. 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid 

The smallest Toyota Hybrid SUV earned an average reliability score of 79 out of 100 from J.D.Power. But being average still means it’s solid. Plus, it’s only two points away from being considered above average. 

Plus, its problems aren’t exactly tied to the powertrain. Although, it has a recall due to a brake software issue. Other drivers have reported problems with the AWD system and parking brake problems. 

The continuously variable transmission has been accused of providing jerky movements and delayed progress, and inconsistent shifts. But the powertrain doing great. 

It has a dynamic Force 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that’s paired with an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery to crank out 196 hp and 139 lb-ft of torque. 

4. 2025 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid 

The 2025 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid falls a bit lower on the list. It earned a score of 80 out of 100 from J.D.Power. That puts it at the tail end of the average category. But that shouldn’t give you cold feet. 

The hybrid engine in the RAV4 has been refined over the past few years, which has helped it become more dependable. Its battery has a manufacturer’s warranty of 150,000 miles.
