There are some hot SUV deals out there right now. Dealerships are clearing vehicles to make room for new model years. However, drivers don’t want to get stuck with a lemon. Check out new SUVs with the most problems to avoid. 

Five new SUVs with the worst problems 

Consumer Reports sent out surveys to over 380,000 owners, allowing them to report any problems they may have faced. As a result, it was able to create a list of the worst SUVs for 2026. Watch out for the least reliable models. 

1. 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee 

    While comfortable and rugged, the Jeep Grand Cherokee might not be the most reliable mid-size SUV to buy. Drivers have been frustrated due to problems with the steering, suspension, and drive system. 

    Plus, they’ve faced annoying issues with odd noises and fluid leaks, which have caused its reliability score to plummet. 

    2. 2026 GMC Arcadia 

      The GMC Accadia is an attractive luxury SUV for families, especially if you need three rows. However, it might be too busy in the shop for family trips. Drivers reported significant transmission issues. 

      Some leaks require removing the transmission. Plus, there are problems with the brakes and electronics systems. 

      3. 2026 Chevy Equinox 

        The Chevrolet Equinox attracts drivers looking for a small, compact SUV. But there are a few things you should know about it. There are reports of problems related to the transmission computer. 

        Also, leaks in the transmission unit require transmission removal to fix, and there are multiple reports of problems with the body control module. 

        4. 2026 Volkswagen Taos 

          The compact Volkswagen Taos is tons of fun, unless it’s causing headaches. Drivers reported major engine problems. This can really ruin your experience with a brand-new daily driver. But at least it should be covered under warranty. 

          5. 2026 Genesis GV80 

            We’re back in the mid-size space with the luxurious Genesis GV80. Owners shared that it has been struggling with multiple problems with the differential drive system, fuel pump, and fuel injector. 

            Other problems include issues with the climate system, steering, suspension, and electrical system.
