Toyota Tundra reverse light recall

Roughly 443,000 Toyota Tundra trucks are facing a recall related to failing taillights. The trucks involved are from 2022 – 2025 model years. Tundra trucks equipped with gas-powered engine and hybrid engine are included.

Moisture can enter the taillights over time and may cause both reverse lamps to stop working. According to Toyota, if water retention occurs then there might not be any indication to other drivers or pedestrians that your truck is operating in reverse.

Plus, visibility in the rear may be reduced during low ambient light conditions. Both of these issues may increase the risk of accidents and injuries.

If your truck is involved, you will need to visit a local Toyota dealership for service. Technicians will replace your reverse lamp assemblies with improved ones at no charge. The assembly wiring harness will be repaired if any corrosion is detected on the wire harness connector.

Toyota will begin notifying owners at risk via mail by mid-July 2025. However, you can also see if your truck is included by entering your Vehicle Identification Number (V.I.N) on the NHTSA site.

You can contact Toyota customer support for more information by calling the Toyota Brand Engagement Center at 1-800-331-4331. This recall is also for the Canadian and Australian markets.
