Mississippi man busted with 44 lbs of cocaine hidden in SUV during traffic stop
Please don’t listen to me for legal advice or travel with illegal drugs. However, should you have a ton of cocaine hidden in your SUV, don’t break traffic laws. A Mississippi man brought attention to himself with 44 lbs of cocaine hidden in his ride and got pulled over.
Mississippi man caught with 44 lbs of cocaine hidden in SUV
A police officer was driving down Highway 49 near Highway 80 in Pearl, Mississippi when he noticed an SUV driving erratically around 1:00 a.m.
The driver of the white Chevrolet Tahoe swerved into the officer’s lane, nearing hitting his police car. This is when the police officer initiated a traffic stop. In a move that avoided making things worse, the Chevy driver, identified as John Jarmaine Norman pulled over.
According to WAPT, the police officer was chatting with Norman and he seemed nervous. The officer started to suspect that he was involved in criminal activity.
Then the officer gained verbal permission to search the SUV. Norman didn’t have to provide consent as there was no visible evidence of illegal items. Upon searching the Tahoe, the officer found a man-made aftermarket compartment that contained over 44 lbs of cocaine.
As a result, Norman was arrested and charged with trafficking a controlled substance. According to a quick search, this amount of cocaine could be worth over one million dollars.
It’s unclear if Norman was operating under the influence when he was pulled over. However, in my humble opinion pulling over instead of leading a police chase was the right move to avoid racking up more charges.
