The Top 3 Vehicles Most Likely to Reach 250k Miles Are Toyota SUVs
You don’t even have to be into cars to associate Toyota with reliability. Its reputation for building long-lasting trucks and SUVs gets around. Now evidence backs things up because the top three vehicles most likely to reach 250,000 miles are Toyota SUVs.
Toyota dominates the list of vehicles most likely to reach 250,000 miles
Shout out to iSeeCars for putting the numbers together. It performed a study to determine which vehicles have the best chance to surpass 250,000 miles.
This longest lasting cars study first launched back in 2013. This year, over 174 million vehicles were analyzed to provide updated results. The top 25 models include 11 SUVs, seven sedans, six trucks, and one minivan.
But Toyota SUVs take the top three spots:
- The Toyota Sequoia has a 39.1% chance of making it over 250,000 miles. That’s 8.1 times higher than the average of 4.8%.
- The Toyota 4Runner has a 32.9% chance to last longer than 250,000 miles.
- The Toyota Highlander Hybrid has a 31.0% chance to reach over 250,000 miles.
A lot of drivers are hesitant to switch from traditional ICE engines to hybrid powertrains because they’re viewed as being less reliable. However, the Highlander Hybrid can help bust that myth. Plus, owners of hybrid cars typically report 26% fewer problems.
The first truck to show up on the list is the Toyota Tundra. It’s in fourth place with a 30.0% chance to make it over 250,000 miles. The Toyota Tacoma is in sixth place with a 25.3% chance.
Every vehicle in the top 9 options is either a Toyota or Lexus model. Because Lexus is the luxury division of Toyota, this feels like a massive win for the brand.
Finally, in 10th place, you’ll see the Honda Ridgeline. It has a 14.7% chance to last over 250,000 miles and it’s the third Japanese brand in the top 10.
The first American and non-Japanese model to make it in the top 25 is the Chevrolet Silverado 1500. It has a 12.9% chance to reach 250,000 miles, which is still 2.7 times above average.
