3 Trucks That Are More Reliable Than the 2025 Ram
The Ram 1500 is one of the most comfortable trucks to buy. But is it the best work and or family truck purchase? That’s subjective based on individual needs. However, I can tell you that the 2025 Ram 1500 isn’t the most reliable model to buy.
Three trucks that are more reliable than the Ford Expedition
These trucks are being ranked alongside the 2025 Ram 1500 based on reliability ratings from J.D.Power. Surveys are sent to drivers after three years of ownership, allowing them to report any issues they faced.
Everything from peeling paint, glitchy electronics, and total engine failure is included. Then scores are averages on a 100-point scale. Scores between 70 – 80 are average. Anything between 81 – 90 is above average, then scores between 91 and 100 are best.
The 2025 Ram 1500 earned a score of 77 out of 100 from J.D.Power. That’s an average score, so that’s not too bad. The average Ram truck is expected to last between 200,000 – 300,000 miles.
Some examples have surpassed 400,000 miles. But the most durable models have older engines such as the 5.7-liter HEMI or Cummins diesel. The new Hurricane engine could be hurting this truck.
1. 2025 Ford F-150
Surprise! Despite having numerous recalls, the Ford F-150 is more reliable than the Ram 1500. It earned a reliability score of 86 out of 100, placing it in the above-average category.
An average F-150 truck is also expected to make it between 200,000 to 300,000 miles. Some models have surpassed 400,000 miles. However, regular care and maintenance make a difference.
If a used F-150 has a clean service history with regular care, then you shouldn’t be worried about 100,000 miles on the odometer.
2. 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
The 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 has entered the chat with a score of 86. It ties with its largest competitor, the Ford F-150. That’s pretty interesting because it’s a rare full-size truck that still offers reliable diesel engines.
You can expect an average Silverado to survive roughly between 200,000 to 300,000 miles. It doesn’t have the same reputation for reaching 400,000 miles like other options.
Also, the GMC Sierra 1500, which is the Silverado’s luxury twin, earned a score of 82. It has more reported problems despite having extremely similar components.
3. The 2025 Toyota Tundra
WHAT? How is the 2025 Toyota Tundra more reliable than the Ram 1500? Well, it earned a reliability score of 83 out of 100.
You may recall that when the current generation launched in 2022, the gas-powered twin-turbo V6 engine had issues. Nearly every engine had to be replaced. But the hybrid engine is doing just fine. Maybe things have been corrected since the launch.
An Average Tundra truck is expected to last between 250,000 to 300,000 miles. Of course, some models last between 400,000 to over a million miles, but that’s with the beloved discontinued V8 engine.
