Unfortunately, it’s pretty hard to find a new SUV for under $20,000 these days. But luckily, there are a few excellent SUVs that can be snagged for under $21,000. You have a few months left in the year to jump on one before they’re gone or prices increase. 

3 SUVs that are still under $21,000 

1. 2025 Hyundai Venue 

    The first SUV for under $21,000 is the 2025 Hyundai Venue. It starts at $20,200, but unfortunately, it’s not available with all-wheel drive. 

    This compact SUV is equipped with a standard 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 121 hp and 113 lb-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 9.4 seconds, which isn’t terrible. 

    The Venue is praised for offering a comfortable ride and a range of standard features, including wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, keyless entry, and an 8.0-inch touchscreen. 

    It also has a solid build quality and straightforward tech. However, it’s a bit cramped inside, and the engine is a little loud. 

    2. 2025 Kia Soul 

      Come on, those hamsters on onto something, and it’s a solid deal with the 2025 Kia Soul. It starts at $20,490. But it’s another option without AWD. 

      The Kia Soul has a standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 141 hp and 132 lb-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 8.5 seconds. 

      Critics love the Soul because it has athletic handling and more space than other subcompact SUV rivals. Plus, it has a long list of standard features like an 8.0-inch infotainment system and automatic headlights. 

      But potential cons include loud interior noise, especially at highway speeds. Plus, it doesn’t have wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. 

      3. 2025 Chevrolet Trax 

        The last of the SUVs for under $21,000 is the Chevrolet Trax. It starts at $20,500. It doesn’t have AWD. Are you surprised? 

        It has a standard 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine with 137 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque. It takes about 9.1 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph, so give yourself extra time to merge. 

        According to Edmunds, it has plenty of passenger space and a comfortable ride. It’s also more stylish and modern than its rivals. 

        Standard features include LED headlights, an 8.0-inch touchscreen, and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. But it does have a few plasticky and lower-quality interior materials.
