3 SUVs are beating the Ram 1500 without remorse
Alright, it’s officially time for the Ram 1500 to panic. It’s not keeping up with the other two American trucks that have been dominating the sales charts for decades. It’s falling behind as three SUVs attract more drivers.
Three SUVs are outselling the Ram 1500
For the past few years, American trucks have been leading the sales charts. The Ford F-150 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, and Ram 1500 battled among the top three spots.
However, things are getting a little unstable for Ram as sales decline. Now three different SUVs are pulling ahead.
According to Car and Driver, the Ram truck has sold 268,666 models so far in 2024. These figures are from the first of January through the end of September. So, at least Ram has a few more months left in the year to catch up.
The 2024 Honda CR-V is the fifth best-selling vehicle at the moment. It has moved 296,164 models so far this year. Then we have the Tesla Model Y with 312,000 sales. Also, the 2024 Toyota RAV4 is in third place, where Ram should be, with 350,331 sales.
While the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 has a comfortable lead, it should be worried about holding on to second place. It has 399,604 sales under its belt but the RAV4 could easily catch it.

This probably isn’t a surprise, but the Ford F-150 is in first place, as per usual. It has racked up 528,028 sales so far and I’m predicting that it will maintain the lead.
But let’s circle back to the struggling Ram 1500. It is currently down 19% compared to the same time period last year.
While critics typically gush over it for being comfortable, advanced, and spacious, it isn’t as configurable as the F-150 or Silverado.
It only starts at about $2,000 more than rivals and has a long list of standard features, so pricing probably isn’t a big issue. Also, people could be waiting for the new and improved 2025 model to drop.
