Sometimes certain SUVs get more time in the spotlight than they should. Other options with excellent reliability ratings don’t shine as much with critics even though they’re dependable. Here are three reliable SUVs that you need to stop ignoring.

Three reliable SUVs that deserve more recognition

It’s a shame when drivers pick SUVs based on name brands and popularity instead of reliability. It doesn’t matter if you’re shopping for something big or small. Some underrated options will last longer than the most popular options.

1. The Chevy Tahoe

The Chevrolet Tahoe is often passed over for the Toyota Sequoia, Chevy Suburban, or Ford Explorer despite holding its own.

According to iSeeCars, the Tahoe ranks as the seventh SUV that’s most likely to reach 250,000 miles or more. It’s 2.1 times more likely to make it past 250,000 miles than the average vehicle.

The average Chevy Tahoe model is expected to last between 200,000 and 300,000 miles. With proper care and regular maintenance, some models make it over 300,000 miles before major repairs are needed.

2. The Honda Pilot

The Honda Pilot deserves more time in the spotlight. It ranks as the eighth SUV on the list of models that are most likely to reach 250,000 or more miles.

While the Pilot is only one spot behind the Tahoe, it’s 1.9 times more likely than the average vehicle to make it past 250,000 miles.

An average Pilot model is expected to make it between 200,000 to 300,000 miles. However, there are examples that have made it over 400,000 miles.

3. The Toyota Highlander

The Toyota Highlander completes my list of underrated yet reliable SUVs. It doesn’t have the same popularity as the RAV4 or Sequoia despite having a solid lifespan.

While the gas-powered model is the ninth option most likely to surpass 250,000 miles, the hybrid is the third most likely SUV to make it that far.

An average Highlander model is expected to last between 250,000 and 300,000 miles. However, proper care is the key to longevity. Regular maintenance can help a Highlander last over 300,000 miles.
