3 Iconic SUVs Are Officially Dead for 2026
If you’ve gathered here today, then you could be in mourning. Three surprising SUVs have been cut for 2026. However, the options that are officially dead are popular icons that have a tremendous history in the automotive industry.
Three discontinued SUVs for 2026
There’s good news and bad news related to three SUVs on the chopping block. The good news is that you still have a few months to get one. But the bad news is that they won’t be returning for 2026. So, don’t miss your chance!
1. The Jeep Wagoneer
Rumors suggest that the Jeep Wagoneer is being discontinued for 2026. According to Mopar Insiders, the standard Wagoneer is going out to pasture.
This will leave the Jeep Grand Wagoneer available for those who want a massive family hauler with plenty of capability to tackle adventures.
The Grand Wagoneer will reportedly receive price cuts and fewer standard options to remain competitive against rivals like the Chevrolet Tahoe and Ford Expedition.
The decision to drop the Wagoneer was made to reduce confusion among buyers. Plus, dealers often had shoppers decide to upgrade to the Grand Wagoneer over the regular Wagoneer.
2.The gas-powered Toyota RAV4
Sorry, if you don’t want a hybrid engine, then you won’t enjoy the 2026 Toyota RAV4. It’s only available with hybrid and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains. The gas-powered engine has been dropped.
Many drivers are rushing to scoop up models with the old 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine before it’s gone. However, the RAV4 Hybrid is also experiencing increasing demand. It has been a hybrid-only SUV in a few other markets already.
Also, Toyota is making a massive push towards electrification. Increasing emissions regulations are pushing automakers to go green. This feels like a gamble, as hybrid vehicles have higher purchase costs and increased maintenance costs.
3. The Kia Soul
Sorry, the best SUV for hamsters is officially done. It is an award-winning option that has been around for the nearly 20 years. It doesn’t even have available AWD, but drivers still went crazy for this affordable ride.
But the Soul has been struggling against declining sales as the subcompact segment becomes increasingly crowded with modern vehicles. Plus, drivers have been making the shift to larger SUVs.
Also, Kia is positioning the Seltos SUV and K4 sedan as suitable replacements. They’ve both been more profitable in other markets. Last but not least, as Kia goes electric with new models like the EV6 and EV9, the Soul EV didn’t make the cut.
