Even if you aren’t a car driver, you’ve probably heard rumors about Toyota SUVs being incredibly reliable. Chevrolet doesn’t have the same reputation. However, there are three Chevy SUVs that are more dependable than you think.

Three Chevy SUVs that are extremely reliable

First of all, the reliability scores are based on driver feedback and scores provided by J.D.Power and RepairPal. The rankings are based on feedback from actual owners and reports of problems they may have faced.

In the case of J.D.Power, surveys are sent out to drivers, allowing them to cover all of the potential issues they struggled with. Everything from the paint, tires, engine, and transmission is included.

1. Chevy Tahoe

The 2025 Chevy Tahoe is a family SUV that everyone can rely on. This three row beast earned a reliability score of 81 out of 100 from J.D.Power, which is an above average score.

Scores between 70 and 80 are average while rankings between 81 and 90 are above average. Then anything between 91 and 100 is best. So, it has a great score.

As long as owners follow regular maintenance schedules and timely repairs, an average Tahoe SUV will make it over 250,000 miles. Some models surpass 300,000 miles.

However, once Tahoe models surpass 200,000 miles, they are more likely to experience minor issues. For example, problems with the cooling system and motor mounts are common.

RepairPal notes that the Tahoe has an average annual repair cost of $744. It has fewer repairs than average, but some of its issues are on the more expensive side.

2. Chevy Blazer

Next up, we’re going compact with the 2025 Chevy Blazer. It has a reliability score of 85 out of 100. It’s ahead of the Tahoe by four points.

The modern Blazer is expected to surpass 200,000 miles. This is one of the newer Chevy SUVs that debuted in 2019, so its lifespan is still being measured. However, early testing indicates that it could last for 20 years.

According to RepairPal, the Blazer has an average maintenance cost of $521, which is below average. It doesn’t have a reputation for frequent trips to the repair shop. Also, only 11% of common repairs are considered severe.

3. Chevy Traverse

The Chevy Traverse is another reliable family hauler. It earned a reliability score of 83 out of 100 from J.D.Power. Also, it’s not as massive as the Tahoe is.

As long as you provide proper care, the average Traverse model is expected to easily surpass 250,000 miles. Models from 2009 – 2011 have more common engine problems related to the timing chains. But this SUV has improved since the second generation launched in 2017.

RepairPal reports that the Traverse has an average annual repair cost of $656 per year. That’s average. Also, it has an average frequency of repairs.
