The 2026 Jeep Recon EV Needs the Federal Tax Credit
After years in the making, the 2026 Jeep Recon EV is finally here! However, it has a pretty high price tag. Stellantis probably wishes that the $7,500 federal tax credit for electric vehicles didn’t end. But let’s see if the new electric Jeep SUV is worth buying.
How much does the 2026 Jeep Recon EV cost?
The 2026 Jeep Recon EV rings in at $65,000. Then the $1,995 destination fee increases the starting price to $66,995.
Too bad this electric SUV arrives right as the $7,500 federal EV tax credit bites the dust. Otherwise, it might be more appealing at $59,495.
But this is a luxury take on the Jeep Wrangler that provides premium comfort without sacrificing off-roading capabilities. It even has removable doors for open air freedom.
It’s the only fully trail rated electric SUV and generates 650 hp and 620 lb-ft of torque. According to Stellantis, it can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 3.6 seconds. Depending on the trim level, you get between 230 to 250 miles of range.
As a nation trapped in the unforgiving grip of range anxiety, at least Jeep has already installed EV chargers at popular trailheads.
For off-roading, the Jeep Recon EV has a ground clearance of 9.1 inches, 33-inch tires, tow hooks, high-strength steel underbody shields, large diameter half shafts, and constant velocity joints.
It has a 33.8-degree approach angle, 33.1-degree departure angle, and 23.3-degree break-over angle. Rock rails and anti-glare hood graphics are available.
The interior features high-quality, durable materials made from recycled products with a wide range of storage solutions. Plus, you get a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 14.5-inch infotainment system with multiple camera systems.
I’m on the fence about this one, but I need to play with it on the pavement and in the dirt to determine if it provides enough value.
