This brand-new 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe keeps breaking down
2024 Hyundai Santa Fe owner and TikTok user, @missyhalleonig, is frustrated because her new family SUV seems to be living in the shop. Her partner and child depend on it to get around.
The first incident occurred about a 10-minute walk from their home. For some reason, the Santa Fe just stopped and couldn’t be put in drive, park, or get it to turn off. According to the owner’s app, there was a powertrain and transmission issue.
So the vehicle was towed to the dealership. By the time it got there, the dash lights turned off, and the technicians explained that they couldn’t diagnose or replicate the problem.
Then, after a while, the same thing happened again. The engine wouldn’t start, and the doors wouldn’t unlock at first.
The dash lit up like a Christmas tree, and the Santa Fe went in for service. But they couldn’t get scheduled for service until months later.
I’ve reached out to missyhalleonig to see if the problem was diagnosed or repaired. Also, I wanted to know which engine their model has.
Does the Hyundai Santa Fe have engine problems?
According to CarComplaints, the 2024 Santa Fe has 11 reports of engine problems. Most of the complaints are related to a laggy transmission, power loss, and rough shifting.
The 2024 model has four recalls, but none of them are related to the engine. But there is one related to the transmission. A software error in the transmission control unit could cause the vehicle to roll away while in park.
There are 22 reports of transmission problems. But it was replaced and repaired for most drivers under recall. However, there was a massive parts delay. Drivers couldn’t get their vehicles serviced for months.
Their model could need a software update or a new transmission. The third most complained about issue is related to electronics. There are reports of the instrument panel flickering, the transmission jerking, and slipping into neutral.
