Recently, you may have gotten a piece of mail that says your 2022 Ford Maverick is at risk of catching fire. Apparently, due to an engine malfunction, the new Maverick Hybrid can actually catch on fire. And clearly, that is not a good thing. The issue is caused by oil potentially leaking and making contact with the hot engine. Now, the Maverick is not the only vehicle impacted by this recall. But nobody wants their new pickup truck to have problems this soon in its life.

Does the 2022 Ford Maverick have a recall?

Back in July, Ford acknowledged that its 2.5-liter hybrid engine could have some problems. This engine is used in everything from the Ford Maverick to the Lincoln Corsair, so the recall is not limited to the 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid.

Apparently, oil can leak from the engine block or the oil pan. And then, the fluid can make contact with the engine or exhaust components. According to The Car Connection, owners who are affected should receive notification of this as early as August 8th. And if your truck is impacted, you should take it to a Ford service center as soon as possible.

What happens if your truck has a recall?

According to NHTSA, if your vehicle has a recall, it is up to the manufacturer to correct the issue. Typically, affected vehicle owners with a recall will be notified by mail. In the case of the 2022 Maverick Hybrid, this small truck’s recall should be fixable. And you can have the issue corrected for free at a Ford service center.

So, while the manufacturer, in this case, Ford, will cover the costs, you are responsible for bringing your truck in for service. Ford has stated that it believes that only 1% of recalled vehicles will actually be affected. Still, you should not risk your Maverick catching fire if you have been notified your truck is faulty.

Is the Maverick a good small truck?

The 2022 Ford Maverick has been extremely popular. In fact, it is so popular that Ford was forced to place a temporary pause on customer orders. And that is because supply could not keep up with demand.

The Maverick offers a fairly affordable price tag, and it comes standard with a hybrid powertrain. This combination has even brought buyers who previously did not own a pickup truck into the truck segment.

Will there be a 2023 Ford Maverick?

There will be a Maverick for 2023, and there will even be some major updates. The Maverick will receive a new off-road package to increase its capability. The Tremor package will be offered to Maverick trucks that are equipped with the EcoBoost engine and all-wheel drive.

There has been speculation that a plug-in hybrid version of the Maverick could be on the way. But, that has not been confirmed by Ford yet. Another potential variant could be a performance model with more horsepower. And that would make the Maverick a quick, small truck.
