I had a wild week behind the wheel of the 2025 Lexus RX 450h. It was an electrifying experience, and honestly, it was difficult to find anything negative about this hybrid SUV. But all vehicles have their ups and downs.

Only 2 things hold the 2025 Lexus RX 450h back

The 2025 Lexus RX 450h is part of the fifth RX generator introduced in 2023. So, this SUV feels pretty new and advanced. However, I have a feeling that this is only the beginning of its long and successful life, because it’s surprisingly good and efficient.

But let’s start with the two potential drawbacks:

  1. The backseat is a little tight. I drive tons of SUVs and the Lexus RX 450h has less passenger space in the rear than rivals like the Nissan Murano.
  2. Most of the controls are touch sensitive. The infotainment system is a bit distracting to us while driving, despitebeing helpful and advanced.

Other than that, the 2025 Lexus RX 450h is a well-rounded, luxurious, and efficient bargain. The entry-level model starts at $53,675 and is loaded with premium materials and advanced tech. The standard AWD is very exciting.

It comes with features such as a power lift gate, heated front seats, power-adjustable front seats, synthetic leather upholstery, a 9.8-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and tri-zone climate control.

Next, let’s get into its power. The Lexus RX 450h is equipped with a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that’s paired with electric motors to provide 304 hp. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 5.9 seconds.

The steering is a bit loose, but it provides smooth transmission shifts and has no trouble getting off the line. The brakes are extremely confident. They even regenerate power for more hybrid fuel savings.

There are virtually no body roll around curves, and the SUV is well-balanced for confident cornering around tight curves. The 19.4-foot turning radius is extremely convenient for maneuvering around tight city areas.

This hybrid SUV gets an EPA-estimated 37 mpg in the city and up to 34 mpg on the highway. During my week with interstate travel and city errands, I hovered around 36.7 mpg. Plus, you can build up enough charge to travel in EV mode.

Plus, the 2025 Lexus RX 450h is comfortable. The front seats are well-padded, plus, and supportive. While space is tight in the rear, the backseats are still impressively comfortable.

The interior provides a peaceful and quiet space to enjoy. It’s only disrupted by an occasional, deep engine roar. Also, the suspension is reactive and prepared to absorb larger impacts with ease. Even in areas that are still torn up after Hurricane Helene.

While the tech could be more intuitive, there are several features to enjoy. For example, when you park the infotainment system automatically displays a 360-degree camera view to avoid obstacles.

Connecting to Wireless Apple CarPlay is a quick and simple process and the head-up display allows you to keep your eyes on the road.

The interior provides high-quality vibes with premium leather upholstery, open-pore wood trim, vibrant ambient lighting, and textured fabrics. The unique wood panels on the steering wheel felt retro and sophisticated at the same time.

Cargo space is adequate, but storage for personal items could be improved. There are 29.6 cubic feet of cargo space being the second row and up to 46.2 cubes overall.

Overall, the 2025 Lexus RX 450h delivers a premium experience that is comfortable, smart, and athletic. However, it’s not the most spacious option in the class and drivers want physical controls to return.
