During the start of 2025, the Ram 1500 continues to ride the struggle bus. It used to be the third best-selling vehicle in America but has slipped two spots. This American truck has fallen behind two Japanese SUVs.

2 Japanese SUVs are outselling the Ram 1500

The numbers are in for the first quarter of the year and things for the Ram 1500 aren’t looking so hot compared to the Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado 1500.

In recent years, the Ram truck was able to hang onto the rear bumpers of its rivals with a secure third-place spot. However, it keeps slipping as now two Japanese SUVs have jumped ahead.

According to Car and Driver, 2025 has had a solid start with plenty of car sales despite looming tariff concerns. The full-size Ram pickup is currently the fifth best-selling option with 78,848 units sold. It has a sales decline of 11%.

Then you’ll find the Honda CR-V in fourth place with 103,325 models sold. It’s experiencing a 9% sales increase compared to the start of 2024. The Toyota RAV4 claimed the third-place spot with 115,402 SUV sales. It’s the best-selling SUV despite battling an 8% sales decrease.

In second place, we have the Chevy Silverado 1500 with 125,298 units sold. It also has an 8% sales decrease. Then to no surprise, the Ford F-150 continues its reign in first place with 183,202 trucks sold. Sales are up by 26%

The Ram 1500 might be in a pickle due to its controversial decision to drop the HEMI V8 engine. However, the HEMI is returning soon. Also, the Ram truck has a slightly higher starting price compared to its rivals.
