Only 1 Truck Starts Under $30,000 in 2026
Well, if you thought 2026 would be the year of cheap trucks, think again. Sadly, prices are still astronomical and climbing. Now there’s only one little pickup that starts for under $30,000. Let’s see if it has enough value.
Only one truck starts for under $30,000
Drum roll, please! The only truck that starts under $30,000 in 2026 is the Ford Maverick. It has an MSRP of $27,145. Then the $1,695 destination fee increases the starting price to $28,840.
The 2026 Hyundai Santa Cruz has an MSRP of $29,750, and the $1,600 destination fee takes the starting price to $31,350. Meanwhile, the 2026 Toyota Tacoma has an MSRP of $32,145, the Ford Ranger has an MSRP of $33,350, and the Nissan Frontier starts at $32,150.
The standard Maverick Hybrid XL trim has a standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that’s paired with an electric motor to generate 191 hp and 155 lb-ft of torque. All-wheel drive is now available with the hybrid engine.
It starts the party with 17-inch steel wheels, LED headlights, cloth upholstery, a 13-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a six-speaker audio system, forward collision mitigation, and lane keeping assistance.
It’s a bit surprising that blind spot warning, a full-size spare tire, a rear center armrest with cupholders, and keyless entry cost extra.
But at least this engine gets an EPA-estimated 42 mpg in the city and up to 35 mpg on the highway. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 6.7 seconds. When properly equipped, the Maverick Hybrid can tow up to 4,000 lbs.
While the Maverick is small, convenient, and practical, it’s not perfect. Critics warn that it has a rough ride quality and a tight interior. Plus, it feels a bit Spartan.
