Study Finds Pedestrian Detection Systems Ineffective at Night

After analyzing real-world crashes, the IIHS found that pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking can reduce crash and injury rates, but don't operate well at night or at high speeds. However, the organization is also working on new ways to test these systems--and some cars are already doing well.
