The Maverick truck has been one of the fastest-selling new vehicles since it was introduced. It has been such a hot item that the Blue Oval has been unable to keep up with demand. When the 2023 Ford Maverick went on sale, it seemed like order books were immediately closed.
In fact, some folks who were lucky enough to order the Maverick are reportedly still in the dark about the status of their truck. Understandably, that can be frustrating, especially for those who have been waiting for some time.
What makes the Maverick good?
According to The Drive, one of the things that make the Ford Maverick such an attractive truck is its price point. Ford’s small truck has a pretty low MSRP, especially when compared to other pickups. It really does seem like the return of the economy car.
To add to that, the Ford Maverick comes standard with a hybrid engine. And, the Maverick Hybrid seems to be fairly popular with consumers. Even though it does not offer all-wheel drive or the same capability as the optional EcoBoost engine, you get better efficiency.
For those that do want a capable small truck, the turbocharged powerplant is there. Plus, for the 2023 model, it is a no-charge option. By opting for the larger engine, you can tow up to 4,000 pounds, get AWD, and unlock some other key features.
The Ford Maverick proves small trucks work
With the popularity of larger Ford trucks, it is a bit surprising to see that folks are willing to buy something smaller. The Maverick shares its platform with the Ford Bronco Sport, meaning that it is a unibody pickup. It’s not as capable as something like the Ford F-150, but it can still tow and haul.
Another perk of Ford’s small truck is that the Blue Oval has given it off-road capability. There is the FX4 Off-Road package and the Tremor package. The Maverick Tremor gets a 1.0-inch lift and an improved AWD system. The Maverick FX4 also adds some off-road goodies, but both are only available to the XLT and Lariat trims.
Can you buy Ford’s small truck?
Due to the popularity of the Ford Maverick, buying one feels nearly impossible. You probably won’t find one sitting on the lot of a Ford dealership to say the least. In the future, it would certainly be nice if Ford figured out how to ramp up the supply of the Maverick truck. But with current issues with the supply chain, it is unclear if that is even possible.
Despite issues with the order process, according to The Drive, the Maverick is one of the best cars of 2022. And with how popular it has been, it seems like consumers would agree.
