Peter Corn

Peter Corn joined MotorBiscuit as an Autos Writer in 2020 and brings his quippiest Southern drawl to our table. Having, in his words, “helped” rebuild his dad’s 1959 MGA as a small child, Peter grew up loving vintage cars and trucks, adding motorcycles and all things 4×4 as he went.

Peter earned a Bachelor of Archeology and Creative Writing from the University of Alabama and has since melded his love of driving with storytelling. His voice, full of pleasantries and witticisms, can be enjoyed in The Gentleman Racer, The Vintagent, Gear Patrol, Iron & Air Magazine, and Classic Car Club Magazine.

Peter is a co-founder of both The Colloquial Magazine and The Fire Escape, the official podcast of The Colloquial. In an effort to increase his abilities in “ramping anything with wheels,” Peter has taken track training from Classic Car Club Manhattan and attended Rally School at Monticello Motor Club, where he was coached by eight-time Performance Rally motorsport champion Chris Duplessis.

On a lucky day, we get to hear Peter tell the story of his first car, a jewel of a 1958 Ford Fairlane, into which he dumped more time and money than made sense, but he has no regrets.

Time to Start Your Racing Career With This $6,500 Formula Vee Race Car

Being a race car driver feels akin to being an astronaut. Think about it; they both go fast, require a bit of training, and they tend to be involved with or adjacent to (AKA wears camo a lot) the military. Aside from those weak comparisons, they are both occupations that many kids want to be …
Bikes and Beards compare older Honda 250R to the brand-new Hawk 250 DLX from Amazon

Can a $2,000 Dirt Bike From Amazon Be Any Good?

Amazon has changed every industry. They sell things so cheaply that they often won’t make money or even lose money just to dominate the market and crush competitors. This might work for blenders or printer paper or other such passionless products, but can Amazon step up to dirt-bike royalty like Honda with the Hawk 250 …

Vintage Ford Broncos Ain’t Worth the Squeeze

Vintage Ford Broncos (sigh). Yes. They are cool. Yes. They are iconic. Yes. They are fun. No, they are not good enough in any real, measurable way to be worth the current prices – and I can prove it. Don’t get me wrong; I love a Bronco. The older, the better. They are boxy, American, …

Airel Just Made The Perfect Car Even Better

How can a car that doesn’t have doors, a windshield, a roof, or even a body be improved? I know what you’re thinking; Ariel must have added the missing parts. They did not. The Ariel Atom was perfect when it first came out in 2000. To be clear, I don’t mean mechanically perfect, its spiritually …

A Jeep In Wolf’s Clothing: The Jeep Gladiator Pulled a Fast One on Us

While the Gladiator used to be totally different, the Wrangler with a truck-bed layout (CJ8 Scrambler) has been around for a long time in Jeep land. That being said, the 2020 Gladiator made quite the splash in the motoring world. Many were excited, and some were too cool to like it; either way, everyone had …
Living Vehicle is an incredible camper that can charge your EV

Never Worry About Charging Your EV Again With This Camper

Remote work and camper living have never been more appealing than they are now. The world is a stressful and anxiety-ridden landscape full of political mess, social injustice, and of course, a pandemic. Many people are taking to the more wild parts of the world for rest, recovery, and safety. While the idea of camper …
Typical Piston And Cylinder Arrangement Of A Gasoline Engine.

Low-Temp Plasma Ignitions Might Replace Spark Plugs

Since the beginning of mechanized locomotion, people have been trying to figure out ways to make it more efficient. The most basic way to achieve efficiency is to get more energy with less fuel. In general, engines are relatively simple; you need a spark, fuel, and oxygen to make them work. Naturally, any of those …

You Can Get a Brand-New Ferrari 488 for a Lot Less Than This Old Nissan

“Like-new” gets thrown around the used-car market more than the last bottle of hot sauce at the BBQ. In most cases, it is utter nonsense. In rarer cases, it can refer to vehicles that have lower mileage and are in really good shape. In this particular case, “like-new” pretty much means brand-new. There is currently …

One of the Coolest Sports Cars Just Died

Leave it to Italy to make a truly beautiful and (sort of) affordable sports car and then kill it. I guess beauty is temporary, or something like that. The Alfa Romeo 4C was a brilliant and beautiful little car that I am quite sad to see go. That’s right; the Alfa 4C is gone from …
Audi E-Tron GT is displayed during the second press day at the 89th Geneva International Motor Show

Hear the Audi E-Tron GT’s Spooky Noise

One of the things car enthusiasts love about their vehicles is the sounds that they make. The exhaust note, turbo blowback, and supercharger whine are noises people will pay to hear when driving their cars. When the electric car first hit, a lot of people struggled with the lack of sound. There’s no combustion engine, …

The Fall Road Trip Is the New Summer Road Trip

The great American road trip is back, baby! People are taking to the roads all over the country as isolation and cabin fever mounts in an increasing heap. Even in the teaming metropolises where personal vehicles aren’t that common, people have been buying up cars, trucks, and motorcycles to get out of town and isolate …

Dick “Bugsy” Mann finally won the Daytona 200 motorcycle classic at Daytona International Speedway on a Honda CB750. His victory was also the first win by a Honda in AMA

Is the Sand-Cast Honda CB750 Actually Better or Just Collectible?

“Collectible” is a strange and elusive moniker. For as long as manufacturing has existed, collectibility has been present. In the early 1900s, cigarette trading cards were made to stimulate cigarette sales by adding a single card from a set with famous people or places on them, pushing people to collect the whole set. These manufactured collectibles …
