The Subaru Crosstrek is a compact SUV model produced and sold by the automobile manufacturing division of the Subaru Corporation. The Crosstrek is the smallest SUV model currently offered by Subaru and is sized and priced below the Subaru Forester compact SUV and the Subaru Outback station wagon.
The Subaru Crosstrek first appeared as the Subaru XV concept vehicle at the Auto Shanghai 2011. A production version of the vehicle concept was then built, premiered at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, and went on sale in 2012. In North America, the model was released as the Subaru XV Crosstrek and replaced the Subaru Outback Sport. Internationally, the model was released as the Subaru XV and replaced the Subaru Impreza XV.
Built on a lifted Impreza platform, the Subaru Crosstrek is currently in its second generation and is also available as a hybrid model. Its competitors include the Hyundai Kona, the Jeep Renegade, the Kia Seltos, the Mazda CX-30, and the Volkswagen Taos.
