The Honda Pilot has been a family favorite for its ample space and comfort. But with the release of the redesigned 2023 Pilot, the automaker has taken its three-row SUV to the next level. Featuring an elegant new look, updated technology, and improved performance, the 2023 Honda Pilot aims to lead the race in the highly competitive midsize SUV market.

One of the most noticeable changes to the 2023 Pilot is its sleek and modern exterior. Honda revamped the front with a new grille and LED headlights, giving it a refined appearance. It also has a more rugged and aerodynamic body that improves overall performance, especially at high speeds.

Another significant change in the 2023 Pilot is the addition of a 10-speed automatic transmission, which replaces the previous nine-speed. The new transmission improves fuel efficiency while providing smoother and more responsive shifting. Honda also equipped the 2023 model with paddle shifters to make changing gears easier.

What’s more, the Pilot’s infotainment system received an upgrade to a larger 10.2-inch touchscreen that’s mounted horizontally, unlike the previous model year. It gives the interior a more modern and spacious feel.

The 2023 redesign has made the Pilot more appealing alongside rivals like the Kia Telluride and Ford Explorer.

2023 Honda Pilot sales are looking up

Honda’s 2023 U.S. sales figures are looking more robust than last year’s. In March 2022, the company’s year-to-date sales were 238,182. But this past March, Honda’s year-to-date sales were 251,042, a 5.4% increase over the previous year.

As for the Pilot, it recorded 8,828 sales in March 2022 and 10,483 in March 2023. That’s an 18.7% increase. According to Honda, the Pilot’s year-to-date sales were 23,989 in March 2022 and 24,704 in March 2023, a 3% increase.

These figures could suggest the redesigned Pilot is more competitive and, thus, attracting more buyers. Few automakers sell more than 100,000 vehicles per month, but Honda achieved that in March with 103,177 units sold. It’s a testament to the brand’s constant innovations and improvements.

The latest Pilot might be a big success

Predicting whether the 2023 Honda Pilot qualifies as a success is tricky since it only recently entered the market. However, the redesigned SUV looks promising, already outselling the previous model. This year’s sales figures suggest the 2023 Pilot is on track to beat last year’s numbers.

Many qualities make the 2023 Honda Pilot an excellent SUV for families. It comfortably accommodates up to eight passengers and has adequate cargo capacity. In addition, it’s equipped with the Honda Sensing advanced safety system, giving drivers peace of mind. Plus, the 3.5-liter V6 engine generates plenty of power for safe highway merging and passing on road trips. Those benefits and more make the Pilot an appealing family SUV.
