There’s no getting around it; electric trucks are here to stay. And now, electric powertrains are finding their way into some of the most popular pickup truck models on the road. Ford now has an electric F-150, known as the F-150 Lightning, and other brands are attempting to do the same. One of these brands is Ram with the Ram Revolution. A vehicle that is set to be a Ram electric truck.

Is Ram coming out with an electric truck?

Although it’s not here yet, there will be a Ram electric truck. Currently, it is known as the Ram Revolution Concept, but it is important to note that it is just that, a concept. But, with brands like Ford and Rivian already releasing electric pickup trucks, Ram is certainly hoping to revolutionize the EV truck segment.

Ram did bring what will likely be its production electric truck to CES 2023. It is the 2024 Ram 1500 BEV. According to Car and Driver, even this pre-production vehicle has some exciting features. It was displayed with AWD, third-row jump seats, and an interior rail system to allow owners to configure the interior to fit their needs.

Ford is currently delivering the F-150 Lightning, and the Chevy Silverado EV is supposed to launch this year. Because of that, Ram will have some catching up to do with its electric truck. That said, plenty of truck owners are loyal to the brand. So maybe being a latecomer won’t be that big of a deal.

Brace yourself; electric trucks are coming

While the Tesla Cybertruck has yet to see the light of day, most truck manufacturers are beginning to release EV pickups. The Rivian R1T has already hit the market, and now the Ford F-150 Lightning marks the first mainstream truck to get the EV treatment.

Now, electric trucks are not perfect for everyone. If you are someone who tows a lot, you will likely notice that something like the Ford Lightning loses significant range while towing. Plus, you will have to plan longer trips around charging stations.

But, with 75% of truck owners towing once a year or less, maybe that is not such a big deal. With an electric powertrain comes instant delivery of torque. And that is something special to experience first-hand.

When is Ram’s electric truck being released?

The Ram electric truck release date is set for some point in 2024. This will put it behind other EV trucks, but the brand likely has some tricks up its sleeve to make the Ram 1500 BEV unique. It probably won’t be as crazy as the Hummer EV, but that truck costs almost $100,000 for the base model.

Plus, it will benefit from the Ram 1500 nameplate. When it comes to pickup trucks, brands like Ram and Ford often lead the pack. It might take an electric Ram a bit of time to catch up with a full-size truck equipped with a combustion engine. But to the right person, it just might make sense to embrace the EV lifestyle.
