It’s no secret that supply chain issues are impacting nearly everything, and that includes the production of pickup trucks by brands like Nissan. Although the third generation of Frontier has breathed new life into Nissan’s mid-size truck, it sounds like the company is being forced to trim production. This cut is occurring at the Canton, Mississippi, assembly plant.

Where is the Nissan Frontier manufactured?

Despite being a Japanese car brand, the Nissan Frontier is manufactured in Mississippi. The 2022 Frontier marked the third generation of this mid-size truck, and it has risen in popularity with all of the changes made.

According to Reuters, Nissan has plans to cut some production days for the Frontier. And those cuts will also impact the Nissan Titan and the Nissan Altima. But why is the brand cutting production of some of its most popular vehicles?

A memo was sent out to dealers, which stated cuts are “due to supply chain disruptions related to ongoing semiconductor chip shortages in the industry.” If you are familiar with the automotive industry or you have been researching a new pickup, you have probably heard about chip shortages. And it does not look like they are going away any time soon.

Will there be a 2023 Nissan Frontier?

Nissan has announced the 2023 Frontier, and it is fairly similar to the outgoing model. Because this mid-size truck just got an update for 2022, that does make sense. There are some subtle changes, like more features coming on base models. But that’s about it.

When you consider how long the second-gen Frontier was around, it does beg the question of how long the third generation will last. With the way the automotive industry is changing, it is hard to imagine a new truck with a V6 engine in 20 years. Especially as Nissan works to electrify its lineup.

Journalists at Car and Driver have noted that there is a new Midnight Edition package. It’s only available to the Frontier SV, and as its name suggests, it blacks out a variety of elements. It should be ideal for those who want a mid-size truck that looks more aggressive.

Does Nissan make a mid-size truck?

Nissan does make a mid-size truck, and it is known as the Frontier. The Frontier has been around for years, and for the longest time, it was one of the oldest new vehicles on the market. In 2022, Nissan finally updated this pickup, giving it a full redesign.

It now comes standard with a V6 engine that makes 310 horsepower. Plus, you get more modern features, something that was lacking from the second-gen. At the same time, the Frontier does still fell old-school in some ways. And that is likely a good thing for those that appreciate a simple truck.

One notable feature of the 2023 Frontier is the presence of the PRO-4X trim. This package competes with things like the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro, and it is a legitimate off-road truck. Hopefully, Nissan is able to correct production issues for it soon.
