As an all-new truck for 2022, the Nissan Frontier has found itself growing in popularity. It now comes with a standard V6 engine and offers things like four-wheel drive. For nearly two decades, the Frontier went without any major updates, so the 2022 model is a fairly big deal. But what is in store for the 2023 Nissan Frontier mid-size truck?

What do we know about the 2023 Nissan Frontier?

Because the Nissan Frontier just got a redesign for 2022, it is likely that the 2023 model will be pretty much similar. Nissan spent some time creating the third generation of its mid-size truck. So it makes sense that the 2023 Frontier will be a carry-over model.

It will probably utilize the same 3.8-liter V6 engine that makes 310 horsepower and 281 pound-foot of torque. The interior will also likely remain the same. And that is a good thing. Compared to the previous generation Frontier, the 2022 model feels much more refined with less hard plastics and other dated materials.

How much will the 2023 Nissan Frontier cost?

In terms of cost, the 2023 Frontier will likely stay in the same range as the current model. The 2022 Frontier has a starting cost of $28,690, which means you can get a mid-size truck for under $30,000. The top-trim PRO-4X model has an MSRP of $38,120 before options. Which makes it cheaper than something like the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro.

It is possible that the 2023 Frontier model could see a slight price increase. But Nissan has not revealed official pricing yet.

Is the Frontier a good mid-size truck?

If you are shopping for a mid-size truck, the 2022 Frontier is certainly worthy of consideration. Nissan has now made a V6 engine standard, and this pickup can tow up to 6,720 lbs. While that might not be as large of a towing capacity as other trucks, it is ample enough for most needs.

The Frontier also boasts some active safety tech and other creature comforts. And that helps this pickup to be more practical for daily use. It is worth noting that the Frontier still rides on a frame that dates back to the early 2000s. So it might not feel as comfortable as other pickups in this segment.

Should you wait for the 2023 Frontier?

Because it is likely that the 2023 Frontier will be about the same as the 2022 Frontier, you will likely be fine with either one. But, it is always possible that there will be small changes here and there. Perhaps lower trim levels will get more options that have been reserved for the higher trims.

When it comes to which Frontier to buy, Car and Driver has stated the SV trim offers a good value. It is better equipped than the base model, and you get things like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The SV is available in both cab configurations, and you can even get a long bed if you need it.
