Peter Corn

Peter Corn joined MotorBiscuit as an Autos Writer in 2020 and brings his quippiest Southern drawl to our table. Having, in his words, “helped” rebuild his dad’s 1959 MGA as a small child, Peter grew up loving vintage cars and trucks, adding motorcycles and all things 4×4 as he went.

Peter earned a Bachelor of Archeology and Creative Writing from the University of Alabama and has since melded his love of driving with storytelling. His voice, full of pleasantries and witticisms, can be enjoyed in The Gentleman Racer, The Vintagent, Gear Patrol, Iron & Air Magazine, and Classic Car Club Magazine.

Peter is a co-founder of both The Colloquial Magazine and The Fire Escape, the official podcast of The Colloquial. In an effort to increase his abilities in “ramping anything with wheels,” Peter has taken track training from Classic Car Club Manhattan and attended Rally School at Monticello Motor Club, where he was coached by eight-time Performance Rally motorsport champion Chris Duplessis.

On a lucky day, we get to hear Peter tell the story of his first car, a jewel of a 1958 Ford Fairlane, into which he dumped more time and money than made sense, but he has no regrets.

Trashed Lamborghini Huracan gets rebuilt for the Mint 400 off-road race

Destroyed Lamborghini Huracan Gets Reborn As a Mint 400 4×4 Racer

Supercar owners can be pretty tiring. I once made a joke to a Lamborghini Huracan owner in NYC. He was rattling on about his Huracan, and once he was done, I responded with, “Yeah, Ok, but how is it in the mud?” He did not find it to be nearly as funny as I did. …
Ford Explorer gets owned by T-Rex. Consumer Reports still thinks it's better than the 2021 Jeep Wrangler

Is the 2021 Jeep Wrangler Really Worse Than the 2021 Ford Explorer?

If we learned anything from high school, it’s probably that popularity rarely equals quality. This is not a hard and fast rule by any means. There are plenty of great vehicles that are also popular, like the Mazda CX-5 or Kia Telluride. There are also many examples of wildly popular vehicles that are subjectively loved …

The 2020 Toyota Tundra Proves It’s More American Than the Ford F-150

What does “Made in America” really mean these days? Before we get too deep, I’m not suggesting American is better or more worthy or any such nationalistic thing like that. Vehicle manufacturing is complex and has many steps throughout the process, and while many people want to shop “more locally,” it can be tough to …

Embarrassing Amount of 2020 Ford Explorer Recalls Leads to Manufacturer Promise

Launching a new model car is tough. Many manufacturers experience growing pains in the form of recalls, lawsuits, delays, and other production mishaps. This is pretty standard. While consumers often don’t have much patience for it, the manufacturers understand that these things happen. They adapt, course correct, and the line moves on. Well, Ford had …
Ford F-450 Ambulance Conversion camper that is as good and much cheaper than an EarthRoamer

This Autarky Ford F-450 Ambulance Is a Sneaky-Good EarthRoamer Replacement

Campers come in all shapes/sizes. This is one of the things that draws so many to the RV/camper thing. There is a free pass to customize and fabricate to your heart’s content. Whatever your rig needs to be, you can make it; all you need is a good strong platform, like a Ford F-450 ambulance, …

The 2022 Honda Odyssey Suffers Loss of Its Coolest Feature

Some rare features can make some cars extra valuable, like a manual transmission, rare colors, or performance packages. This is simple supply and demand. As long as I have been a car nerd, I have never heard of a car being more desirable because it had a home appliance option. Well, that’s exactly what’s happening …
2021 Lexus IS350 F Sport parked in the mountains

The 2021 Lexus IS350 F Sport Is a Beautiful Disappointment

Sports cars are a strange and somewhat general category that really doesn’t mean all that much. Is a Jeep Wrangler a sports car? Is a Tesla Model S a sports car? It’s not as cut and dry as you might think. I don’t know that I am willing to call the 2021 Lexus IS350 F …

Give Your 2021 Jeep Gladiator the Most 80s Jeepy Upgrade Ever

Ah, the 80s. You were so ugly, yet, for some reason, we can’t help but love you. The 80s is back, y’all. It’s in our fashion, TV shows, movies, and definitely in our car and truck taste. Think about it; all the big, brown, square trucks are back and cost 10x what they did new. …

Cadillac Is Introducing a Bougie New Roof-Rack System That Could Change Everything

Roof racks are cool. Full stop. You can attach all manner of gear to them; luggage, kayaks, bikes, skis/snowboards, a spare wheel, an axe, or really anything you want. They have also become part of the look for the adventure going vehicles like 4×4 SUVs and basically any Subaru. As we might have expected, Cadillac …

Your 2021 Toyota Tundra Might Be Delayed Because of the Playstation 5

If we learn nothing else from this pandemic, let it be that supply chains are a powerful force in the country. With limited workers and factory capacity, we have seen so many delays and shortages in things we normally take for granted. Take the Ford Bronco or the rush for the Playstation 5, for instance. …
1972 Dodge Challenger 4x4 | Craigslist seller

This Dodge Challenger 4×4 Will Embarrass Your Pickup Truck

The restomod is a slippery slope that often leaves vehicles at the bottom covered, wrapped cheesy fiberglass, and looking worse than they did off the factory line. However, sometimes they can be one of the classiest vehicles on the road. Unlike many goofball restomod cars, this 1972 Dodge Challenger not only saw the slippery slope …

Avoid the 2021 VW Jetta and Go For the 2021 Toyota Corolla

It can be hard to navigate buying a new car. Popularity doesn’t always equal quality. Plenty of popular cars have been complete trash. Consumer Reports listed a handful of the most popular cars that also happen to suck. One of the best examples is the 2021 VW Jetta. This car is consistently riddled with issues …
