2023 BMW XM Pros and Cons to Consider

We’re going against the popular trend of listing the 2023 BMX XM price as a con. It has an MSRP of $159,000. We’ve heard all the jokes like you can buy a house with that amount, but in reality, this price is in line with rivals.

Truthfully, if you can afford a luxurious supercar, then the price doesn’t matter – and the XM is ready to race with luxury and convenience. But there are a few aspects that could make competitors like the Mercedes-Benz AMG G 63 seem superior.

1. PRO: The BMW XM M Lounge is comfortable

One of the best places to spend time in the BMW XM is in the back. The M Lounge refers to the backseat area where the seats feel like an extremely comfortable couch. Passengers can easily relax or even nap back there.

You get plenty of space to stretch out with a nice view of the LED lined geometric head-liner. There are tons of USB ports for charging devices and plush throw pillows to snuggle up with. Plus, the rear seats are heated.

2. PRO: The 2023 XM is customizable

Nearly every aspect of the 2023 BMW XM can be customized to your liking, even minor details. For example, the brake calipers can be silver, red, or light blue. You can stand out with available gold trim too.

The head-up display has several preprogrammed settings based on the driving mode, but you can change each option. Adjust the information that’s displayed, the height, and the width. You can also customize the camera views, sounds, and LED lighting.

The LED light can be customized to your favorite colors and can automatically change based on driving modes. You can save two unique driving modes. Or you can pair the acceleration of sport mode with the baking response of normal mode. There are endless possibilities.

3 PRO: The BMW XM is powerful and efficient

The 2023 BMX XM has a standard M TwinPower turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine that’s paired with an electric motor and battery pack to generate 644 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. It’s the most powerful production BMW ever and accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in roughly 3.7 seconds

It has an EPA-estimated 30 miles of electric range, a little more than the average amount someone drives daily. With electricity and gas, it can get up to 43 MPGe. The hybrid, electric, and eControl modes allow you to control how much gas or electricity is used.

1. CON: The BMW XM is big and hefty

The 2023 BMW XM is a larger SUV, and it feels like one – especially while parking. It’s 78.9 inches wide and 201.1 inches long, which is great for passenger and cargo space.

But it’s very wide and takes up the entire parking space. Visibility is limited, so thank goodness this chonk can park itself.

The BMX XM weighs 6,063 lbs, which is similar to other electric luxury vehicles in the class. However, the weight impacts its performance. It’s a bit awkward and louder than expected with wind and road noise.

We wouldn’t say that the suspension is overly stiff, but impacts and smaller imperfections are noticeable. That said, the front seats do have a good amount of side bolstering to hold those in the front in place. In our beloved M Lounge, passengers can sway from side to side.

2. CON: The 2023 BMW XM is confusing

The 223 BMW XM is packed with advanced, modern tech that’s unique and cool. There are things like car wash camera reviews and heated/cooled cup holders. But the system isn’t very intuitive.

Simple actions like changing the radio station or disconnecting your phone can be difficult to figure out. It’s distracting, especially while driving. We changed the height of the head-up display and the LED lights to hot pink but would need help changing them back.

You can spend a day at BMW school once you purchase this vehicle, and we recommend taking the class. It might provide beneficial secrets and tips for success.
