Though it hasn’t always been this way, the midsize SUV segment is one of the hardest to break into. That wasn’t the case for this Kia SUV, which earned rave reviews right off the production line and became the ideal family SUV. Considering the 2024 Kia Telluride price, does this vehicle still have the features to keep consumers interested?

Is the 2024 Kia Telluride price worth it?

The 2024 Kia Telluride price starts at a reasonable $35,990 for the base LX trim, while a fully loaded SX Prestige X-Pro begins at $53,185. Most shoppers will be happy with the lower trim levels, as Kia includes a very long list of standard safety and technology features on all options. The top-of-the-line trims are more rugged and suitable for light off-roading situations, but that isn’t something every potential shopper wants or needs.

The Kia Telluride price range

Otherwise, the Kia Telluride price is still a pretty good deal. There are five options under $45,000 or so, with extensive features. While many midsize SUVs saw a significant price increase in the last two years, the Telluride remains an affordable option.

Will the 2024 Kia Telluride be more fuel-efficient?

The fuel economy is one area that holds the 2024 Kia Telluride back, even though the price remains reasonable. While it isn’t bad, many of the midsize SUV’s closest competition have better fuel economy numbers or come with a hybrid variant. The Telluride comes with front-wheel or all-wheel drive; both fuel economy numbers are below.

Front-Wheel Drive20/26/22
All-Wheel Drive18/24/20
Kia’s midsize SUV fuel economy

Some trim options only come in all-wheel drive, like the EX X-Line, SX X-Line, and everything above. Getting 20 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway isn’t bad; it isn’t a selling point either. Many shoppers are interested in hybrids or better fuel economy as gas prices are unpredictable. The 2024 Telluride did not improve the efficiency over last year’s model, but this is one of the only significant downsides.

Is the 2024 Telluride a safe midsize SUV?

As expected, the 2024 Kia Telluride price includes a long list of standard driver-assistance features. These include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, and blind-spot monitoring. Kia also added rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, and automatic high-beam headlights.

Since the newest version of the Telluride is relatively new, it hasn’t been fully crash-tested yet. The NHTSA gave the midsize SUV a five-star overall safety rating, with high marks in the front, side, and rollover segments. While the IIHS hasn’t completed testing, the 2023 Telluride earned the Top Safety Pick Plus award. Since Kia has only added more systems and improved the SUV over the last year, it could likely take home the TSP+ award again.

The 2024 Kia Telluride price remains reasonable even if the fuel economy did not improve much. The automaker has released plans for the Kia EV9 SUV, which will be similar to the Telluride but electric. That could explain this popular midsize SUV’s lack of a hybrid option. If you can overlook the average fuel economy, the 2024 Kia Telluride is still a well-rounded and well-equipped SUV.
