All 2022 Chevy Silverado Changes in Just Released Configurator

The just-released 2022 Silverado configurator let's you spec your truck the way you want, as many different ways as you want. It only took Chevy six months to see the configurator go live, but it's up and ready. Here's some of the things we like about it.

It has taken a while, but Chevy has finally released the online configurator for the 2022 Silverado pickup truck. Also released today is the 2022 GMC Sierra configurator, too. Both spell out the differences and upgrades for GM’s refresh of the popular pickup trucks.

Why is the 2022 Silverado configurator just going live now?

MotorBiscuit has covered both the Silverado and Sierra upgrades throughout 2022 while we waited for the actual configurator to launch. We’ll run through once more the highlights we found in the debut, six months after the 2022 model became available. Buyers have been able to order 2022 Silverado 1500 trucks since December 16, 2021.

What we are most interested in is the ZR2 off-road features and specs. Besides those categories, you can spec powertrain, all of the trims, cabin options, and color choices. With the updated interior, all of the cabin options and features are listed, making it easy to choose. It can help you visualize, what your dream Silverado will look like.

Technology got improvements as well with new safety features added. And many have been upgraded or fine-tuned. Engine options include the 2.7-liter I4 L3B turbocharged engine, 5.3-liter V8 L84, 6.2-liter V8 L87, and 3.0-liter I6 LM2 Duramax turbodiesel. There are also five different camera options that tie into the IntelliHaul 2.0 technology.

Besides Silverado’s standard safety features, there are lots of optional ones

Optional safety technology in 2022 includes Forward Collision Alert, Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Steering Wheel Audio Controls, and Driver Information Center wrapped into the Safety Confidence Package. Standard safety features include Front and Rear Park Assist, Hitch Guidance, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, Forward Collision Package.

Jumping around the site, we were expecting to see the short bed option for the single cab available for the first time for 2022 Silverados. If it is possible to order the combination, it must have to be spec’d through a Chevy dealer, because the single cab only comes with the standard eight-foot bed on the configurator.

What we are happy to see is the revised grille and interior. Since introduced in 2018 as the 2019 model, the Silverado grille has been controversial. The new fascia does away with the “horse blinders” below the headlights.

Complaints about the earlier Silverado have been addressed in 2022

Inside, the materials and layout of the 2019 Silverado paled in comparison to the also-new-in-2019 Ram 1500. It was immediately apparent that GM has gone the cheaper route for materials, and many found the breakup of the dash fussy and distracting. Unfortunately, it has taken over three years to address these two big issues.

Prices for the 2022 Silverado start at $32,500 for the 1500 and $38,700 for the 3500HD. But be aware that with this new configurator, you can see that you could easily load up a Silverado to where it hits Corvette prices.
