A performance version of the 2022 Kia EV6 is on its way. And it will be known as the GT trim, adding serious horsepower to this already impressive electric SUV. While there is already a GT-Line trim, it does not exploit the full power that the Kia EV6 has to offer. Plus, it does not have the same aggressive look that the GT model will have. Which helps to show off the performance that this vehicle has to offer. These are the top three features of the Kia EV6 GT that we feel make it a true winner.

The Kia EV6 GT will have serious power

We won’t bury the lead here, the Kia EV6 GT is going to be an EV crossover with serious power. With the EV6 GT, buyers can expect to get 576 horsepower and 546 pound-foot of torque. Because of this, the Kia EV GT will be an electric SUV that has a top speed of 162 mph. Which is seriously impressive, and makes this one of the most powerful Kia models ever put into production.

The 0 to 60 mph will be around 3.5 seconds. And that will help the EV6 compete with rivals such as Tesla. Kia has also stated that software updates will be made to the EV6 GT, these include an imitation limited-slip differential, making this vehicle even more engaging to drive.

Kia gives the EV6 GT visual upgrades

Just giving the EV6 GT more power was not enough from Kia. The brand is also making some visual changes and upgrading different components to make the EV6 GT look more sporty. These changes include yellow brake calibers along with yellow accents throughout the EV6.

Additionally, the seating of the Kia EV6 GT will feature heavier bolstering. This will ensure that drivers can take full advantage of this electric SUV’s performance while being able to stay seated comfortably. Granted, we are not sure how many EV6 owners will be taking their EV crossover to the track.

Even with 576 hp, the EV6 GT is still practical

Despite having north of 550 hp, the 2022 Kia EV6 will still be practical. And that is because, at its core, it is a spacious crossover. It has room for gear and groceries, plus Kia claims that this model can seat up to five adults comfortably. According to Car and Driver, the EV6 GT will also come standard with all-wheel drive. This makes it ideal for handling things like winter weather or spirited driving.

But, the Kia EV6 GT will likely suffer from a high price tag. The EV6 is not necessarily a cheap EV crossover model. And, it has already been a difficult task to find models available at Kia dealerships. This is likely due to supply chain issues and the fact that the 2022 Kia EV6 is still a new model. We do hope that with the arrival of a performance EV from Kia, the brand will gain more traction in the EV segment. Allowing more buyers to benefit from this electric SUV.
