Although everything in America seems bigger than everywhere else, the change in the EV market could make its way here. In foreign markets, electric vehicles are getting smaller and cheaper. Kia is leading this affordable EV offensive with four new models that are smaller and much more affordable than the current EV6 and EV9 models we are familiar with.

Kia hosted an EV Day to announce new models

The first annual EV Day held last October, during which Kia announced three new models: the EV3, EV4, and EV5. However, a fourth has emerged that is smaller than the rest. Once it arrives, the new EV2 will be the cheapest and most affordable Kia electric vehicle in any market.

The Kia EV5 launched in November

It wasn’t long after the Kia EV Day before the new EV5 hit the Chinese market. This new affordable model starts at around $20,000 in China to compete with the low-cost Tesla Model Y and some Chinese EV brands, including BYD. This same EV starts at around $46,000 in Australia, which makes us wonder how much it will cost if it comes to America.

The new Kia EV5 uses Hyundai’s E-GMP platform and provides up to 447 miles of driving range on the CLTC rating.

The EV3 brings EV9 tech to a smaller package

Kia unveiled the three-row EV9 recently, giving the world something to challenge the Tesla Model X. The new Kia EV3 should arrive in the summer, with a sporty GT-Line model reaching the market in the fall. This new, small Kia electric vehicle brings tech and design elements from the EV9. These items are put into a smaller, more affordable package. The EV3 should start at around $30,000.

Kia offers electric sedan driving in the EV4

Like the Hyundai Ioniq 6, the new Kia EV4 should be an entry-level electric sedan with a lower profile than its SUV siblings. This innovative electric sedan should cost $35,000 and provide consumers with an excellent alternative to the electric SUVs.

The Kia EV2 is important and unique

Affordable EVs could be the future of the electric vehicle world. The new EV2 could be a hatchback that brings back the love of small cars. Kia says thiis little EV isn’t a hatchback, but once you see the video below, it’s hard to think of it as anything else. This new EV was spotted in testing and will likely be the entry-level model with a price of around $14,500.

The Kia EV2 is a “very unique and important model” and should be popular in European markets.

Other affordable EVs are on the way

Kia isn’t the only brand focused on affordable electric vehicles. Nissan plans to unveil the Micra EV, and Ford, Volkswagen, Rivian, and Hyundai also have small, affordable EVs in the works. We aren’t sure if any of these small, affordable EVs will arrive in America, but its certainly a possibility.
