Switch the lyrics of My Sherona to my Sedona, because the Kia Sedona is one rockstar of a minivan. The 2020 Kia Sedona has a surprising amount of power and luxury to provide a comfy ride for the entire family.

The Kia Sedona is a Luxury Minivan

To get started in the 2020 Kia Sedona minivan, you will need to spend around $27k, which is fair for a nice ride that can seat up to eight passengers. The Honda Odyssey starts around $30k, and the Toyota Sienna starts around $31k, so the Kia has our attention with its savings.

However, the Kia Sedona will not provide savings on gas. It only gets up to 18 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. Other vans also have pretty weak fuel economies, so don’t let fuel efficiency steer you away.

Is the Kia Sedona a Good Van?

To our surprise, the base model of the Kia Sedona comes with a 3.6-liter V6 engine that offers 276 horsepower and 248 lb-ft of torque. That’s a lot of minivan power. You can tow up to 3,500 lb with the Kia Sedona. Also, the Kia Sedona can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 7.6 seconds, allowing you to pass family SUVs like the Toyota RAV4 on the highway.

The 2020 Kia Sedona doesn’t offer all-wheel-drive, so be careful in the snow and other slippery conditions. However, it does come with hill start assistance, electronic stability control, and rollover mitigation to safely reach your vacation destinations.

The front suspension is an independent suspension with MacPherson struts, gas shock absorbers, and a stabilizer bar for a smooth ride. The independent multi-link suspension in the rear with coil springs will also absorb impacts for a peaceful drive.

Kia Sedona Features

The Kia Sedona offers 33.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats, which is a substantial amount of room. However, you can access up to 142 cubic feet of cargo space total, making the Kia Sedona huge.

It’s perfect for moving day because the seats fold forward. You also don’t have to take the third row of seats out because they can be stored under the second row of seats. If you do remove the third row, then you have any more cargo space. Plus, the roof rails come in handy too.

The smart liftgate automatically opens when you’re near, allowing you to go hands-free while loading cargo. Also, the power sliding doors have an anti-pinch feature. They automatically stop when an object is sensed in the way.

If you get thirsty on vacation or after loading up, reach in the cooled glove box for a cold drink. The Tri-zone climate control will keep everyone comfortable, and you can cool off or warm up with the heated and ventilated seats. Also, the stain-resistant seats will help prevent messes.

The Kia Sedona is also packed with tech features, including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, wireless charging, blind-spot warning, forward collision prevention, smart cruise control, and more. It’s easy to see why JD Power named the Kia Sedona as the best minivan in initial quality based on the reviews of actual drivers.
