The Jeep Wrangler 392 Concept Blows the Ford Bronco Away

The Jeep Wrangler 392 concept has been hitting the streets to test its V8 power. The first V8 Jeep Wrangler has something to prove among the common complaints of Wranglers not having enough power. Now it could outmuscle the new Ford Bronco too.

The V8 Jeep Wrangler 392 concept doesn’t disappoint

Currently, the most powerful engine found in a Jeep Wrangler is the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine with 270 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. The 3.0-liter turbocharged EcoDiesel option also provides 260 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque.

However, the upcoming Jeep Wrangler 4xe will offer 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque, making it the most potent Wrangler ever. But if the Jeep Wrangler 392 concept makes it way into production with the 6.4-liter V8 Hemi to provide 450 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque, it will be a game-changer.

There has always been a rival with tons of horsepower and torque for wheeling or towing that steals attention from the Jeep Wrangler. The 2021 Ford Bronco, for example, just flexed its muscles with 310-hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. But it would be incredible for Jeep to fire back with their V8 Wrangler, finally.

Testing the Jeep Wrangler 392 V8 Concept

MotorTrend was recently blessed with the opportunity to take the Jeep Wrangler 392 Concept for a spin, and they put each of the horses powering the V8 engine to the test. They also had a wonderful time while doing so.

They said the acceleration was brisk as it’s backed by an 8HP75 eight-speed automatic transmission and the shifts are lightning-fast. They noted that even with 3.73 gearing and 37-inch tires, the Jeep Wrangler 392 concept had enough power to effortlessly pass other drivers without any delay. The tires even bark from a start at a three-quarter throttle.

MotorTrend loves the way the V8 sounds with a wide-open throttle, and the 392 Concept has a dual-mode exhaust that can up the excitement on demand. They mention that if you have been waiting for a V8 Jeep Wrangler, then you won’t be disappointed, even if the factory version isn’t as impressive as the concept.

The Jeep Wrangler 392 V8 Concept has nice doors

Another thing to note is that the 392 Concept has the latest version of the JL Wrangler half doors that have been shown at different times since the JL was announced. The most recent design doesn’t have a hole like the earlier options did.

Instead, these doors have more refined interior panels and provide a better match with the JL interior. They loved the doors’ height while driving and felt like it allows for their elbows to fall in a natural place. These doors could arrive as a Mopar accessory soon.

MotorTrend hopes that the Jeep Wrangler 392 Concept will head to production soon because the V8 power felt unmatched. They even teased at the idea of having one in their driveway along with further testing a factory version.

The Ford Bronco wasn’t even mentioned in their review one time, even though it serves as one of the most iconic SUVs to come out in decades. The Jeep Wrangler 392 Concept could leave the Ford Bronco in the dust.
