Dodge Durango And Grand Jeep Cherokee Power

Both of these SUVs have three or more engines to choose from, allowing you to build the perfect ride to suit your individual needs. The Dodge Durango base engine is a 3.6-liter V6 option that offers 293 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. This is the same base engine for the Jeep Grand Cherokee

The most powerful engine the Dodge Durango offers is the 6.4-liter V8, which provides 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. However, the Grand Jeep Cherokee has a 6.2-liter V8 supercharged engine that pumps out a whopping 707 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque.

Despite having more power than the Durango, the Grand Jeep Cherokee can only tow 7,200 lb. The Dodge Durango sweeps in with best in class towing and the ability to tow up to 8,700 lb, which is quite the upgrade.

People are attracted to the Grand Jeep Cherokee for the life of luxury it provides, but the Dodge Durango is pretty fancy. As the most powerful SUV for under $35k, it includes massive leather seats, wireless charging, and more.

However, the Dodge Durango does it at a fraction of the cost. The highest trim level of the Grand Jeep Cherokee starts around $87k. The Dodge Durango offers an excellent trim option for $42k then the insane SRT option raises the price to $62k. So, as long as you don’t need more than 475 hp, you can save with the Dodge Durango with similar comfortable amenities.
