Although the pickup truck market is changing quickly, pickup trucks and hunting camo are indelibly linked. Understanding this demographic, GM decided to take advantage of this fact and released the Chevy Silverado Realtree Edtion for the 2021 model year. Chevy brought the Realtree back for the 2022 Chevy Silverado, and despite what you might think, it has proven to be quite the hit. As of this writing, there are only seven left.

Can you buy a 2022 Chevy Silverado Realtree Edition pickup truck?

Although only seven new ones are still listed for sale, the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado Realtree Special Edition is currently available. According to GM Authority, the Realtree Edition is listed by GM as an optional extra for the Custom Trail Boss trim of the 2022 Silverado 1500. The special edition tacks on an extra $2,520 to the Trail Boss’s price tag.

The Realtree Editon mostly offers a hunting-themed graphics package. There are several decals and badges decorating the rare Silverado edition. If you have spent any time in a rural community, the Realtree decals and badging should look familiar. Here is an itemized list of the special features of the package.

  • Realtree graphics on hood, doors, bedside, and tailgate
  • Realtree trim accents on interior door panels
  • Chevytec spray-on bedliner with Realtree logo
  • Black Z71 fender and grille badges
  • Black Silverado and Custom badging
  • Black hood badging
  • Black rectangular dual exhaust tips
  • Black assist steps
  • All-weather Z71 floor liners

Can you get Realtree Editon on any Silverado?

This package is only available for the Silverado Trail Boss, as we mentioned earlier. However, even more specifically, the package requires the Crew Cab / Short Bed body style and the naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 gasoline engine. This insanely-niche package still requires more prerequisites. To get the Realtree stickers, you must also get your Silverado in these specific exterior paint options; Summit White, Black, or Oxford Brown Metallic.

Even though there are only seven examples currently for sale, the specific specs required for this special edition are intense.

Why do pickup trucks have so many trims and options?

While it may seem insane to have such a niche option package, the truth is, this is just what pickup trucks do. There are roughly 4 trillion options, trims, and special editions for every pickup truck model. The number of different configurations is due to the nature of working vehicles. Different jobs require different truck configurations. It makes sense.

However, on the other hand, there is something about folks who want pickup trucks as daily drivers that seem to really like all the decals and special badging. As much as pickup trucks are working vehicles, they are also lifestyle and status symbols in many parts of the country.
