If your fall road trip takes you westward beyond the Mississippi River, you’ll find some incredible places to enjoy the drive and the colors of fall. The San Juan Skyway in Colorado is an excellent road to travel for autumn’s beautiful reds and oranges. This road takes you to Durango and the “Million Dollar Highway,” which is in the hub of ski country.

Another incredible drive in the western states is along the Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway in New Mexico. This road runs from Taos to Questa and offers you 83 miles of fall colors with the landscape of New Mexico as the backdrop.

Very few roads offer 469 miles of fall colors, but the Blue Ridge Parkway does. Take this road and enjoy the most vibrant fall colors you’ve ever seen.

If you head toward the north, you’ll want to take your passport and enjoy the Lake Superior Circle Tour. This tour takes you through Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and into Ontario, Canada. The loop is 1,300 miles long and one of the only roads offering a longer stretch of fall colors than the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Another option in the Midwest is the Sylamore Scenic Byway in the Ozark National Forest. This road runs through Arkansas to give you beautiful fall foliage and mountainous scenery that makes you want to stop and take a few photos.
