MotorTrend’s Renders of the 2024 Toyota Camry Look Absolutely Insane

Our beloved Toyota Camry is overdue for a redesign. For years, many Toyota models have needed the glow-up. Slowly the brand is updating models, like the 2023 Toyota Tundra and Sequoia. Given the popularity of trucks and SUVs, handling these Toyota models first makes perfect sense. Despite the waning popularity of sedans, the Toyota Camry remains a massively popular model, and it could be next up for an overhaul. And, if these new renders of the 2024 Toyota Camry have any chance of being made, we are in for a real treat.

Will the 2024 Toyota Camry get redesigned?

It would be a good time for Toyota to redesign the Camry. Not only has Toyota been slowly updating multiple models, but as MotorTrend points out, Honda gave the Camry’s biggest competitor, the Honda Civic, a substantial update.

As we mentioned, the sedan segment is struggling to excite buyers. So, for Toyota to be a competitive sedan, it might require a pretty flashy design. Well, there seems to be only one way to go for the Camry; aggressive.

What does the 2024 Toyota Camry look like?

To be clear, Toyota hasn’t released any official images or even confirmed that the Camry is getting a substantial redesign. That said, it is a reasonable expectation that Toyota will update it soon. And following the Toyota Prius’s big facelift, the Camry getting a sportier and more aggressive outfit makes perfect sense.

MotorTrend points out that Toyota President CEO Akio Toyoda has been focused on performance lately. Two examples of this are the GR86 and GR Supra sports cars. Hell, he even worked in a hot Corolla. But even the somehow less sporty models like the Prius are even getting more aggressive bodywork. If Toyota is willing to spice up the Prius, anything is possible.

The renders of what could be the 2024 Toyota Carmy are not only completely bonkers, but they are also totally possible. (Images here)

MotorTrend shows a low and very angry-looking Camry. It feels more BMW i8 than it does Toyota Camry. We are here for it. It’s hard not to love the cutting roofline, wide body, and long wheelbase, all punctuated by that little ducktail trunk lid, seemingly borrowed from the Supra.

What engine will the 2024 Toyota Camry get?

It’s hard to say, but it will likely be a hybrid. MotorTrend explains that this realization is partly why they decided to hide the exhaust pipes in the render. MotorTrend explains that they left the exhaust pipes off the render because Toyota already “hides” exhaust pipes for some hybrids. They leave the tips undecorated and pointed to the ground behind the bumper.

This doesn’t have to mean that the new Camry will be slow if it’s a hybrid. In fact, MT speculates that since the Lexus RX-F Sport 500h already uses a turbocharged hybrid 2.4-liter making between 340 and 366 hp, the Camry could easily get something similar in its sportiest trim.

While this beautiful render by MotorTrend is based on sound logic, these details aren’t confirmed yet. The images are beautiful and would certainly make for a lovely new Camry, but we will have to wait and see what happens. We aren’t likely to know until later this year, at best.
