Monster trucks are expected to bring the vroom, and the Ford F-150 Raptor R will not disappoint. The 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R is gaining a supercharged V8 engine to be king of the jungle again. 

The 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R gained supercharged V8 power 

Alert the Ram 1500 TRX. It won’t be the most powerful monster truck if the 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R arrives with supercharged V8 power. According to Muscle Cars and Trucks, a photo leak confirms the arrival of the 5.2-liter V8 Predator engine for the Raptor R. 

The Ram 1500 TRX comes with a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 HEMI with 702 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. Other trucks have been trying to catch up for a while without success, but the new F-150 Raptor R could change things. 

However, the 5.2-liter Predator V8 could crank out up to 760 hp and 625 lb-ft of torque. This is the amount of power it provides in the S550 Mustang Shelby GT500. However, due to the extra size and increased weight of the F-150 Raptor, it could have a lower output. 

What we know about the Ford F150 Raptor R so far 

The current Ford F-150 Raptor is equipped with a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine with 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. It has the same amount of power as the previous generation. 

We know that the 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R is expected to have more power with a supercharged V8, but we’re still waiting to release the official figures. 

The Ram 1500 TRX can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 3.7 seconds, and the Raptor reaches 60 mph in about 6.2 seconds. The Raptor R will need to speed things up a little. Also, the Ram 1500 TRX has a controlled launch mode. 

The Raptor R may feature revised looks. It could feature sharper lines for a more confident look and a slightly wider stance. Design sketches show two letterboxes sitting above the frilled, which would provide more airflow to help cool the engine. 

It’s safe to expect a revised front and rear bumper as well as unique wheel designs to set it apart. Red accents like tow hooks and badging could set it apart from the regular Ford F-150 Raptor. Plus, it could have an enhanced rear suspension setup with more robust trailing arms. 

How much does the Ford F-150 Raptor R cost? 

Official pricing for the 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R hasn’t been released yet, but we will update you as soon as the correct numbers are released. Rumors suggest that the Raptor R could start around $70,000. 

The Ford F-150 Raptor starts at about $69,525, and the Ram 1500 TRX has an MSRP of $77,780. We wouldn’t be surprised if the Raptor R had a higher starting price to cover the extra power and equipment. 

On a positive note, we might not have to wait much longer to learn more. The Ford F-150 Raptor is expected to arrive by the end of 2022. It could reach the dealer lots this fall. We will keep you updated as we learn more.
