At a time when gas prices are sky high, some SUVs are more expensive when you pay at the pump. As you might imagine, it’s the largest SUVs that cost the most to fuel. Consumer Reports looked at how much it would cost to fill up a range of SUVs and determined that these 2022 SUVs cost more than $100 to fuel. If you’d like to avoid spending a Benjamin on gas (or if you’d like the photo opportunity that comes with a $100+ fill-up at the gas station, pay attention to these SUVs.

5. The 2022 Infiniti QX80 is the most expensive luxury SUV to fill up

The 2022 Infiniti QX80 costs $107 to fill up. It can go 390 miles on a full tank of gas and gets 11 mpg in the city, 21 on the highway, and 15 overall. The QX80 has a 26 gallon tank. Its price range is between $70,600 – $84,850, making it the most expensive SUV that costs over $100 to fill up. 

4. The 2022 Nissan Armada is one SUV that will hurt when you pay at the pump

The 2022 Nissan Armada is one of the most expensive SUVs to fill up, according to Consumer Reports. This may not be a surprise, considering the Armada is one of the largest SUVs you can buy. It gets 10 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway for an overall 14 mpg. The Armada costs $107 to fill its 26-gallon tank and it can go 364 miles on a full tank. The Armada is the cheapest SUV that costs more than $100 to fill up which may entice people to consider it. Its price range is between $49,150 – $68,550. 

3. The 2022 Toyota Sequoia is expensive to fill up

The 2022 Toyota Sequoia is ranked number three on Consumer Reports’ list of the most expensive SUVs to fill up. You’ll pay $109 at the pump to fill up this SUV. It has a 26.4-gallon gas tank which gets 10 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway. That means the Sequoia gets 386 miles on a full tank of gas. The price range for the Sequoia is $50,500 – $69,775.

2. The 2022 Chevy Suburban and 2022 GMC Yukon XL tie for second

The 2022 Chevrolet Suburban and 2022 GMC Yukon XL are the second most expensive vehicles to fill up right now. It costs $115 to get the Suburban or Yukon XL to full. The Suburban and Yukon XL’s gas tanks are 28 gallons. They get 448 miles on a full tank of gas thanks to their 11 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway.

The 2022 Chevy Suburban starts at $52,400. There are a whole variety of 2022 Chevrolet Suburban trim levels to choose from, and packages to add on. The 2022 GMC Yukon XL price starts at $53,295 for the base model SLE. There are three additional Yukon XL trim levels available, including the SLT for $60,095, the AT4 for $67,795, and the most expensive Denali, which costs $71,195. 

1. The 2022 Ford Expedition is the most expensive SUV to fill up in April 2022

The 2022 Ford Expedition costs the most to fill up in April of 2022. You’ll spend $117 to fill an Expedition right now, thanks to the Expedition’s 28.3 gallon tank. The Ford Expedition gets 453 miles on a full tank with a range of 11 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway, according to Consumer Reports. The Expedition price range is somewhere between $51,110 – $82,815, depending on which trim level you get.

SUVs are crazy expensive to fill in 2022, and with gas prices not showing any sign of getting much lower anytime soon, you may want to avoid these 5 SUVs – at least for the time being.
