The Jeep Wrangler boasts legendary off-road capability. Rugged hardware — like solid axle suspension and body-on-frame construction — sets it apart from softer SUVs. Add a seven-slot grille, round headlights, and an open top, and you have a recipe for fun. Meanwhile, the Jeep Gladiator builds on those traits with a rear bed, combining pickup style with the Wrangler’s iconic look. Useful storage space helps haul gear, and seating for five leaves room for friends along for the ride.

Jeep vehicles have loads of personality. And special editions build upon that. Two models in particular — the limited-edition Wrangler High Tide and Gladiator Texas Trail — exemplify the American off-roaders’ fun, adventuresome spirit.

Let’s look at the Jeep Wrangler High Tide and Gladiator Texas Trail and how they compare.

2023 Jeep Wrangler High Tide: Price, specs, and features

Sand dunes and sunny days suit the Jeep Wrangler to a tee. And with its 35-inch tires and Sunrider top, the High Tide is ready for long days on the coast. Here are the details.

Starting at $56,030, this limited edition features a body-color hardtop with an easy-access Sunrider add-on. Instead of removing the entire hardtop for open-air fun, drivers can flip up the Sunrider like a soft-top convertible for on-the-go thrills.

And while the High Tide comes standard with white paint, you can add a splash of personality with shades like High Velocity, Hydro Blue, and Punk’n Metallic.

Unique High Tide decals adorn the hood, and 17-inch beadlock wheels with 35-inch tires look made for floating over sand. LED headlights and fog lamps add a modern flair, and heavy-duty steel rock rails show this Wrangler is ready for anything.

Under the hood, the High Tide uses the brand’s tried and true 3.6-liter V6 with 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Routed through a Torque-Flite eight-speed automatic and Command-Trac four-wheel drive, this trusty mill is strong and efficient. Add Dana 44 axles front and rear, and you have a trail-ready ride like nothing else.

Jeep gave the High Tide a mostly spartan, hose-down interior. Conveniences include power windows, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, and the Uconnect 4 infotainment system.

In contrast to the 2023 Jeep Wrangler High Tide, the Jeep Gladiator Texas Trail has a sleek, understated attitude, equally at home on the trail or boulevard. Let’s go over the specs.

Starting at $46,815, the Texas Trail limited edition features decals on the hood and tailgate for an extra helping of American style. Black wheels come with 32-inch mud tires, and a black hardtop and matching side steps complete the low-key look.

To enhance the Texas Trail’s curb appeal, shoppers can choose paints like Firecracker Red, Black, or Sarge Green.

Buyers can also pick from two engines: the standard 3.6-liter V6 or a hearty 3.0-liter EcoDiesel. Either can be routed through a six-speed manual or an eight-speed auto, and 4WD ensures tenacious traction.

Interior-wise, this special-edition Gladiator adds “Texas Trail”-embossed leather seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. An eight-speaker audio system and Uconnect 4 infotainment round out the package.

On top of all that, the Gladiator Texas Trail has additional cachet: It’s available only through Texas dealerships.
