Going into 2024, the Jeep Wrangler brings meaningful upgrades, including a new ugly face on the front. This mid-cycle facelift includes more off-road performance features, refinement, and an improved interior. Let’s see what this new off-road Jeep SUV includes.

How does the 2024 Jeep Wrangler have an ugly face?

The new 2024 Jeep Wrangler has an ugly face. Of course, this quality is one of the “eyes of the beholder” items, but the new grille differs from previous Wrangler models. This new seven-slot grille is slimmer and more upright, includes an inlaid design, and has black texture in the slots. This departs from what we normally see in the Jeep Wrangler grille.

It might be ugly, but it adds performance improvement to this Jeep SUV

Some might not admire the Jeep Wrangler’s new front fascia, but the changes are purposeful. These upgrades help improve cooling and are required for the factory-installed Warn winch. The grille isn’t all that changed about the Wrangler’s exterior.

This off-road SUV no longer has a steel mast antenna, instead opting for a stealth model integrated into the windscreen. A new premium soft top comes standard, and the Rubicon model receives a standard Warn winch. The Wrangler High Altitude also enjoys the benefits of a new Sky One-Touch powertop as part of its standard packaging.

Where are the off-road upgrades for the 2024 Jeep Wrangler?

As expected, the Rubicon trim level is where we see the off-road improvements for this Jeep SUV. The 2024 model brings:

  • A new Dana 44 HD full-float rear axle
  • A Warn winch rated at 8,000 pounds mounted on the steel bumper
  • A Rock-Track part-time transfer case
  • Front sway bar disconnects
  • 33-inch tires
  • Tru-Lok front and rear axle lockers

If you want even more capability, check out the Rubicon X model with its:

  • Rock-Trac full-time transfer case
  • Off-road camera
  • 35-inch BFGoodrich all-terrain tires

Of course, if you want the most powerful Wrangler, the Rubicon 392 still brings the heat with 470 horsepower.

The 2024 Jeep Wrangler interior features desired tech

The biggest improvement to the interior is the new 12.3-inch touchscreen display. Gone is the dated 7-inch screen and its Uconnect 4 system. You now see the larger screen and the upgraded Uconnect5 system, which brings wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to make connectivity much easier.

Jeep added more to this infotainment system to make the Wrangler interior even better. This system includes a connection to the off-road adventure trail guides, making it easy to go where you want using this system for navigation.

The infotainment system isn’t the only place the Jeep Wrangler’s interior has been upgraded. Although the 2024 Jeep Wrangler has an ugly face, it delivers more interior comfort and refinement. You’ll find soft-touch surfaces and a “heritage-inspired” center stack layout.

The High Altitude model brings an exclusive Mantis Green interior color, and the Rubicon X and Rubicon 392 models will enjoy new acoustic front glass, a thicker carpet, and additional sound-deadening foam.

Are more trims offered with the 4xe plug-in hybrid powertrain?

Car and Driver tells us that Jeep is expanding the availability of the 4xe PHEV powertrain for the Wrangler. This system is now offered on the Sport and Rubicon X trims, ensuring you can have the hybrid Jeep Wrangler you want to drive.

The 2024 Jeep Wrangler might have an ugly face, but that new face is purpose-built, much like the rest of the upgrades for this venerable off-road SUV.
