The Hellcat-powered Ram TRX drove off into the sunset in 2023; nothing has filled the super-truck-sized hole yet. Ram said it would bring a new truck at the top of the off-road truck lineup. The new truck is the 2025 Ram 1500 RHO, which has some impressive gear, but it’s not the TRX. Can this new Ram truck fill the TRX-sized hole in the lineup?

Don’t expect the same power output as before

The new 2025 Ram 1500 RHO uses a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged Hurricane 6-cylinder engine under the hood. That’s not nearly as impressive as the outgoing Hellcat supercharged Hemi V8, but it’s pretty impressive in its own right. This high-strung Hurricane engine produces 540 horsepower and 521 lb-ft o torque, which puts it above the Ford F-150 Raptor’s 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6.

It might not hit 702 horsepower, but the RHO’s engine makes plenty of power for the drive. This engine enables the Ram truck to hit 60 mph in 4.6 seconds and finish a quarter-mile in 13.1 seconds at 105 mph. The top speed is 118 mph, which is much faster than anyone needs to go in a big and powerful truck.

The suspension is pure TRX

Ram gives the 1500 RHO some of the same suspension parts as the TRX. The Bilstein Blackhawk e2 shocks continuously read speed, throttle position, braking torque, and steering angle to adjust for the right drive. The remote reservoirs enable more piston rod travel and suspension articulation. These shocks are part of the Ram Active Terrain Management system, which controls the entire system for on and off-road driving.

Big wheels keep on turning

It’s becoming commonplace for super trucks to ride on massive tires. The 2025 Ram 1500 RHO uses a set of 18-inch beadlock-capable wheels wrapped in 35-in Goodyear Wrangler AT tires. This package gives the truck excellent traction that makes it easy to cover the desert sand or leave sports cars in the dust at traffic lights.

Because this new Ram is an off-road-focused truck, you expect it to provide impressive ground clearance and wheel articulation. The rear axle travels 14 inches, and the ground clearance is 11.8 inches. The front track is 74.4 inches wide, giving this truck an impressive stance.

What’s important about these figures? They are the same as the TRX.

The price of the 2025 Ram 1500 RHO is much cheaper than the TRX

When it reached its end, the TRX price hit $98,335, with some models crossing the six-figure mark. The new RHO starts at $71,990, which is much less than the TRX. Its also more affordable than the F-150 Raptor’s $80,325 starting price.

We can miss the Ram 1500 TRX and its Hellcat engine, but the new 2025 Ram 1500 RHO is a fitting replacement, filling the super truck hole the TRX left behind.
