We’re excited to learn more about the new GMC Canyon, but it’s not all good news. The price went up by thousands, which is still surprising considering the fact that this is a luxurious mid-size truck. See how much the 2023 GMC Canyon costs.

How much does the 2023 GMC Canyon cost?

A 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X Edition 1 shows off its looks as a mid-size truck. It's not cheap though.

The 2023 GMC Canyon price starts at $36,000, and going for the top-spec Canyon AT4X model increases the cost to $55,500. The 2022 Canyon begins at about $27,500, so the standard model went up by $8,500.

That’s a lot, but the 2023 Canyon could include enough value to be worth it. Plus, the At4X model is the most capable Canyon ever.

Also, you’re getting more truck than before. The new Canyon is 10 inches wider, which helps improve passenger and cargo space. Plus, the widened track provides a smoother ride and more off-roading stability.

2023 Canyon: What’s new?

The 2023 GMC Canyon ditched its old boxy style and large headlights for a brand-new look that promotes style and confidence. The thin LED headlights wrap around a larger grille and more prominent front bumper.

You’ll find that the rear features new taillights and a revised bumper too. Plus, there are new wheel designs and a totally redesigned interior. Hopefully, it feels different from its 2023 Chevy Colorado twin. It should provide more luxury.

It rides on a revised version of the GMTXX platform. The sole engine option is a turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder unit that cranks out 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. It can tow up to 7,700 lbs and carry a payload of up to 1,607 lbs.

The standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 200 hp, 3.8-liter V6 engine with 308 hp, and 2.4-liter four-cylinder turbo diesel with 181 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque were dropped. The 2022 model can also tow up to 7,700 lbs.

The 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X brings the heat with a 3.0-inch suspension lift, 10.7-inch ground clearance, 33-inch mud-terrain tires, rocker panels, skid plates, Multimatic adaptive dampers, and locking differentials in the front and rear.

4WD models get a new Terrain mode that allows for one-pedal driving. It will brake for you and prevents the truck from rolling back.

Does the 2023 Canyon have a better interior?

Yes, the 2023 GMC Canyon has replaced hard plastics and cheap materials with high-quality wares. The leather upholstery provides more comfort and support. There are contrasting shades of red, white, and black with chrome accents to catch the eye.

The Denali trim has laser-etched wood trim to stand out. The 11.3-inch infotainment display and 8.0-inch digital gauge clusters look great. We’re excited about the standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity too.

There are upgraded camera views available with up to 10 angles to improve visibility. Two of the cameras sit under the truck.

So the new Canyon has more power, is more refined, and has more capability. But the price still seems high. We need to get behind the wheel to determine if it’s worth it.
