General Motors has a lot of new vehicles in the works, including the GMC Canyon AT4X. Commercials and ads are all over featuring trucks with upgrade like 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X blasting rock music as it goes off-roading. But is the AT4X worth buying?

How much does the 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X Cost?

The 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X could start over $49,065. This is how much the Chevy Colorado ZR2 costs, but the Canyon is a more premium model. It’s basically the luxury version of the Colorado.

Also, if you want a mid-size off-roading truck, you could save with the 2022 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road. It has an MSRP of $34,890. But it’s also worth noting that the Tacoma TRd Pro starts at about $47,150.

The Tacoma trucks could be more durable and capable of off-roading than the AT4X, but it probably isn’t as luxurious. The new AT4X line is for adventuring in comfort and style. Also, the Canyon AT4X is one slot below it.

What comes with the Canyon AT4X?

The 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X could have a lot in common with the Chevy Colorado ZR2 and larger GMC Sierra AT4X. These models feature a unique look with a new front bumper design, unique badging, and more confident front facias.

These trucks have a lot of off-roading upgrades too. For example, the ZR2’s front suspension consists of an independent coil-over-shock with Mutimatic Dynamic Suspensions Spool Valve (DSSVTM) dampers and a locking differential.

You’ll find a solid axle with semi-elliptic, two-stage multi-leaf springs in the rear. It also has a locking differential and DSSVTM dampers. Steel tubular rock guards and skid plates protect the undercarriage.

The Canyon AT4X could ride on 31-inch Goodyear Duratrac all-terrain tires with a 2-inch suspension lift like the ZR2. Plus, the ZR2 features black fender flares and cut-away bumper sections for enhanced wheel travel.

The GMC Canyon’s 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 200 hp and 191 lb-ft of torque could be dropped.

This would make the 3.6-liter V6 engine with 308 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque the standard engine. You can also opt for the 2.8-liter four-cylinder diesel engine with 181 hp and 389 lb-ft of torque.

Is the Canyon AT4X luxurious?

The 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X is supposed to be luxurious. The entire GMC Canyon lineup will be redesigned for 2023. The current interior is a little plain and lacking. Cheap materials such as hard plastics take away from a sense of comfort and luxury.

Perhaps pops of carbon fiber, genuine wood accents, accent stitching, and premium leather upholstery will be added. Also, the massive front seats are very supportive but cut into rear passenger space.

It’s safe to expect updated tech. A larger unit could replace the 8-inch infotainment screen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, but we would like to see wireless connectivity for these systems.

It wouldn’t be surprising for the GMC Canyon AT4X to receive a new digital gauge cluster that displays more off-roading stats. A panoramic sunroof and a wireless charging pad would be welcomed additions too.

So, the GMC Canyon AT4X is special because it will be the most capable Canyon model so far. It should also provide more luxurious amenities. We will learn more about it soon as it arrives in 2023.
