The Ford F-150 Lightning Can’t Touch the Rivian R1T In These 2 Areas

The Ford F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck is hitting the streets soon. The Blue Oval’s electric pickup truck is impressive, but how does it stack up against the Rivian R1T? The F-150 Lightning can’t hang with the R1T in two specific areas.

The Rivian R1T is much faster than the Ford F-150 Lightning

The Rivian R1T is the quickest mass-produced truck on the market. This thing makes the 702-horsepower Ram 1500 TRX look lethargic. The R1T can run with the best of ’em. The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning simply can’t keep up.

Even the Ford F-150 Lightning Platinum only makes 563 horsepower compared to the Rivian R1T Launch Edition’s 835 horsepower. Lower R1T trim levels still produce at least 600 horsepower. The Rivian R1T is an absolute powerhouse. So, why does the R1T’s horsepower make a difference?

The Rivian R1T’s horsepower is important because this electric pickup truck can provide unparalleled experiences. It’s a pickup that drives like a luxury sports car. The electric truck’s Launch Edition can go from 0-60 miles per hour in an insane 3.2 seconds.

Ford’s electric pickup truck is handy, but is it sporty? The R1T also offers several different drive modes that can adjust the vehicle’s ride height thanks to its independent air suspension. This changes the vehicle’s driving dynamics and changes how it handles at high speeds. When it comes to performance, the F-150 Lightning ain’t messin’ with the Rivian R1T. That doesn’t take anything away from the Blue Oval’s electric truck, but Rivian has performance on lock in the electric truck segment.

The 2022 Rivian R1T Launch Edition’s driver assistance features are insane

The technology used in the Rivian R1T Launch Edition is cutting-edge. Its many driver assistance features make driving effortless in many different scenarios.

The R1T has an entire suite of driver assistance and safety features called Rivian Driver Plus. Driver Plus is standard on the R1T Launch Edition. Rivian Driver Plus features Highway Assist. Highway Assist steers, brakes, and accelerates under the driver’s supervision. This makes driving through moderate traffic much easier. It also requires the driver’s attention, so drivers are still ultimately in control despite having to do less work.

Driver Plus also features Adaptive Cruise Control. When this feature is activated, it allows the R1T to keep up with the flow of traffic by accelerating and braking itself. Drivers can control their cruising speed and how far they’d like to trail other vehicles. The Ford F-150 Lightning may come with plenty of available driver assistance features but it’s hard to imagine that they’ll be as advanced as the R1T’s features.
