The Purosangue, or “thoroughbred,” is an SUV with the spirit of a sports car. Italian luxury sports car producer Ferrari has been around for over 80 years. The brand has created some of the most notable luxury sports car nameplates of all time, including the Ferrari F40. Ferrari is a racing legend.

Consumers that can afford Ferrari models experience nearly unparalleled performance. The thing about sports cars is they aren’t always built for comfort. Performance specs are often prioritized over practicality. The Ferrari Purosangue combines the performance of a Ferrari luxury sports car with the comfort and practicality of a small family SUV.

Ferrari recently released a promotional video of a driver tearing through windy roads in Norway in a brand-new Ferrari Purosangue. The driver enjoys the SUV’s acceleration in a mountainous region as he takes on tight turns and sharp inclines.

Unfortunately, Ferrari is only allowing the clip on YouTube and its official website, so you can view it here on YouTube here. The clip was clearly made to excite gearheads and tease the Purosangue’s incredible performance.

Ferrari Purosangue specs

There’s still plenty to learn about the Ferrari Purosangue, but the brand has provided enough information to keep fans on the edge of their seats as we await the epic SUV. The Ferrari Purosangue will only come with one engine option: a mighty V12. Yup, Ferrari is going 12-cylinder, which is even bolder than the Lamborghini Urus Performante and its V8.

According to Car and Driver, the Purosangue’s naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 makes a monstrous 715 horsepower and 528 lb-ft of torque. That’s a whole lot of giddyup. According to Ferrari, the SUV can go from 0-62 miles per hour in roughly 3.3 seconds. It has a top speed of 193 miles per hour.

The Ferrari Purosangue will be one of the quickest SUVs on Earth when it arrives. Lamborghini has some serious competition in the SUV space.

Why should you care about the Ferrari Purosangue?

The Lamborghini Urus has become a cultural icon since it debuted. The Urus has appeared in music videos. It is the status symbol of choice for many celebrities. The Ferrari Purosagnue’s release will impact culture and quickly become a topic of conversation simply because it’s a Ferrari product. Rapper and business mogul Drake has already referenced the development of the SUV in a new song from his controversial new project.

Not all of us may be able to get behind the wheel of a Purosangue, but its exclusivity doesn’t diminish its cultural impact. In fact, its exclusivity will make it even more desirable. The days of sports cars on calendars and posters may be coming to an end as a new type of vehicle enters the spotlight: the luxury performance SUV. Models like the Lamborghini Urus, Lotus Eletre, Aston Martin DBX, Maserati Levante Trofeo, and the upcoming Ferrari Purosangue are changing everything we know about SUVs.
