The Hyundai Kona is the world’s first all-electric, zero-emissions subcompact SUV. It boasts an amazing array of technological wonders to achieve that feat, including a 150-kW motor that actually puts out 201 horsepower and 291 lb.-ft. of torque on demand. In 2019, the Kona won the North American Utility Vehicle of the year award, and the 2020 Hyundai Kona seems poised to do the same. We know that this electric vehicle is built to keep you connected, but does it have Apple CarPlay

Kona with Apple CarPlay

Apple CarPlay has made combining your life on your smartphone with your vehicle completely seamless, and it is a standard on the 2020 Hyundai Kona. Everything is connected via an available 10+ inch touchscreen where you’ll find all your favorite apps, messages, navigation, and music. Apple CarPlay is a must-have for iPhone users, with an all-new dashboard that lets you manage your day even more easily.

CarPlay’s Siri voice control is the heart of the system, but you can also control it via touch or even through the vehicle’s dials and knobs. Just tell Siri you want to make a phone call and you’ll be instantly connected. Tell Siri where you need to be and when, and you’ll get the most efficient driving directions immediately, including turn-by-turn directions and immersive 3D experiences.

You don’t even have to know where you’re going, just ask Siri where the nearest gas station is, for example. All the apps you’re used to are been customized for your vehicle, ensuring that you keep your eyes on the road and your hands on the wheel where they belong.

Apple CarPlay keeps you connected on the road

Apple CarPlay in the 2020 Hyundai Kona keeps you in touch with all your contacts, whether that’s through a phone call or text message. Siri will read safely read your texts aloud while you drive so you can concentrate on the road, and respond via your voice. If you want to make a phone call, simply ask Siri to call your contact and you’re instantly connected.

The Kona’s Apple CarPlay experience also gives you access to all your favorite entertainment apps, simply by asking. Pull up your favorite playlists and podcasts, or listen to the day’s news. You have full access to your Apple Music subscription through voice commands, with all your best songs and radio stations available for your drive. Apple CarPlay also keeps tabs on your calendar, reminding you of important appointments and tasks, and giving you the ability to reply to appointments via email, and get precise driving directions to get you there safely and on time.

The 2020 Hyundai Kona

The main thing people love about the Kona is the jaw-dropping efficiency of its all-electric engine. Powered by its 64.0-kWh system, the Kona has an EPA-estimated range of 258 miles on the highway and 132 in the city.

Hyundai applies its warranty to the battery as well, giving it a 10-year or 10,000-mile guarantee. Part of its efficiency is due to the aerodynamic design, with a closed grille in front and curving lines that give the vehicle a sense of fun.

The technology goes well beyond Apple CarPlay. The 2020 Hyundai Kona wraps you in Hyundai SmartSense, a comprehensive suite of high-tech safety features that include lane-keeping assist, forward-collision avoidance and pedestrian detection, smart cruise control with stop-and-go, driver attention warning, and blind-spot collision warning.

Hyundai has created an incredible zero-emissions SUV to help us achieve a more sustainable future. Apple CarPlay is just one thing on a long list of technological advancements that make this a vehicle to keep an eye on.Â
