Full-size pickup trucks are a hot commodity here in the United States. Over the years, these vehicles have gone from simple workhorses to achieving luxury standards. One pickup in particular that has undergone this transformation is the 2022 Ram 1500. The new Ram 1500 takes being a full-size truck to the next level. And there are three key reasons why you should consider it over something like the 2022 Ford F-150. 

The 2022 Ram 1500 is seriously comfortable

In terms of comfort, the Ram 1500 does have the advantage over the Ford F-150. Especially when it comes to the higher trim levels. The Ram was the first light-duty truck to utilize a coil-spring rear suspension, which does help with ride quality. 

Both full-size trucks can come with things like leather seating, but the 2022 Ram 1500 feels more luxurious. And if you are spending upwards of $50,000 on a new pickup, that is something that is likely to be appreciated. As a sign of how far full-size trucks have come, both the 2022 Ford F-150 and Ram 1500 can come outfitted with a 12.0-inch infotainment system.

The Ram 1500 offers a mild-hybrid system

If you want the benefits of a hybrid truck, you can get it for no extra cost with the 2022 Ram 1500. This system is available on both the V6 and V8 engine options. And while it is not a full-hybrid truck, Ram has offered it for some time. It is known as eTorque mild-hybrid technology, and it has proved itself to be fairly reliable. 

Where the 2022 Ram 1500 does fall a bit short are its engine options in general. The new F-150 has a plethora of powerplants available to it. And some might find the advantageous, especially if you want the efficiency of a turbocharged engine. 

You can still buy an old Ram truck

Buying a new truck might seem exciting, but some folks don’t enjoy the complexity of modern pickups. Thankfully, Ram has the answer for that through the Ram 1500 Classic. According to J.D. Power, Ram is still selling the previous generation of its full-size truck. You can get it cheaper than the normal Ram 1500, and it is available in multiple configurations. 

The 2022 Ram 1500 Classic isn’t the right pick for everyone, but it is nice to see the brand provide consumers with the option for an old-school truck. 

Is the 2022 Ram 1500 better than the Ford F-150?

Both of these trucks have their own advantages and disadvantages. The 2022 F-150 comes with more powertrain options and is slightly more affordable. But, if you value luxury and comfort, the Ram 1500 is worthy of consideration. 

The Ram 1500 has a starting MSRP of $37,090, but you should expect to pay more for the higher trims. It seems like the days of cheap pickup trucks are over. But, the new Ram 1500 does bring quite a bit to the table. And if you want a full-size truck, you should certainly consider it.
