While not everyone can spend $150,000 on an SUV, plenty of people can. However, if an automaker wants to compete at that price level, they better offer something special. For 2023, Porsche did just with the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid, so here are three reasons it’s worth $150K.

The 2023 Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid comes with a high price

Porsche set the MSRP for the 2023 Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid at $146,900. That MSRP listing does not include options, taxes, title, registration, delivery, processing and handling fees, or dealer charges. Additionally, it should be noted that each dealership sets the actual price of the cars they sell.

Using Porsche’s online build and price tool, we find no-cost exterior color options ranging from standard black and white to metallic shades of black, white, blue, silver, and gray. Upgraded colors, including Arctic Gray, Carmine Red, Chalk, and Cashmere Beige Metallic, add $3,150 to the price. If you have a particular shade that fits your signature style, Porsche will match it on your 2023 Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid for $13,150.

1. Interior luxury and features

The first reason to spend $150,000 on the 2023 Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid is its luxurious interior featuring black smooth-leather upholstery on nearly every suitable surface except for the backs of the front seats, which have a synthetic leather covering. If you’d prefer a two-tone leather look or upgraded Club Leather with cross-stitching, either option incurs a nominal upcharge. You also have the opportunity to choose the $4,500 Premium Package Plus, which adds the following:

  • Panoramic roof system
  • Four-zone climate control
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Surround view camera system with active parking support
  • Ventilated front seats

2. Performance

Performance is the second reason to buy a 2023 Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid. It derives its 729-horsepower maximum combined output from pairing a 591-hp twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 with a 174-hp electric motor. In addition, the Cayenne’s E-Hybrid system produces a combined 700 lb-ft of torque.

This powerful combination allows the 2023 Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid to accelerate from 0-to-60 mph in as little as 3.5 seconds. While on a closed-course racetrack, it reaches top speeds of 183 mph when equipped with summer tires. It can also cover a quarter-mile drag strip in 11.7 seconds with the included Sport Chrono Package.

3. Off-road capability

While the 2023 Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid presents excellent on-road performance, its off-road capability is the third reason to buy it. Porsche designed the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid’s chassis to maximize its performance on rugged terrain. The “Off-road” drive mode setting uses Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) to reduce body roll and enhance traction. Additionally, the adaptive air suspension allows for ride-height adjustment for increased ground clearance to crawl over obstacles or ford high-water crossings.

Since it’s essential to know your vehicle’s capabilities before tackling any off-road conditions, Porsche provides the following terrain feature guidance with the air suspension set to its highest level:

  • Maximum water fording depth – 11.0 inches
  • Ramp break-over angle – 21.6 degrees
  • Maximum ground clearance – 9.5 inches

These three reasons should convince you to consider the 2023 Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid. If not, Porsche’s four-year or 50,000-mile limited vehicle warranty with 24-hour roadside assistance and eight-year or 100,000-mile limited battery warranty is a bonus reason. While not everyone has the extra funds to purchase a $150,000 vehicle, those who do should look at the 2023 Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid.
